Great renovation

The new rooms are beautiful, spacious, and include a microwave and fridge for convenience. Great location and the restaurant wasn't bad either.

Great location in the center of town

Posted Jul 12, 2015
Directly in the heart of town. It's a 5 minute walk to anything. Hotel room was okay. It was clean but there were some things I was disappointed in; some rather nitpicky. The room was remodeled but not complete. Surprisingly small details like door knobs and bathroom hardware were neglected. Old TV cables high on the wall were not capped and I noshed off but left dangling and painted. The largest annoyance was having a balcony that you didn't want to use. It was never touched. One plastic patio chair and old cheap green outdoor carpet with dirt, grime, and hundreds of cigarette stains made it unusable. The rooms were adequate though. They were clean and the beds were comfortable. One last annoyance though was the design of the two doors that separated the sitting room and bedroom. They opened into the bedroom which would be fine if it didn't block the ability to navigate it since it was cramped with two double beds already. Overall it satisfied our needs but others looking at the pictures and expecting a complete remodel from top to bottom will be disappointed. The lobby and other areas are pretty work down.

Great location

Very rustic older hotel in heart of downtown. Hotel needs upgrading which I believe they are in the process of doing. Appreciated gentleman who upgraded our room due to issue in parking lot. Would definitely stay again!

Right on Main Street

Posted May 31, 2015
Pros: Centrally located. Nicely decorated.
Cons: The desk area has been replaced by the refridgerator/microwave. Would have been nice to have figured out a way to have both.
Location: Right on the main drag on Mirror Lake ... We go in the summer so there's water sports, biking, hiking. Beautiful area.
We have stayed at North Woods many times in the past few years. We like it because it is right on Main Street in Lake Placid (Mirror Lake side). This year the hotel is being completely renovated. The new rooms are very nice and very clean. All rooms have microwaves and fridges that are hidden in nice cabinets. Coffee pot is a Keurig. My only criticism is that there is no desk/table. Front rooms have a view of the lake. Back rooms have balconies. We go in the summer so can't comment on ski season.

Great Location And Price, Extremely Noisy Though

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: Location & Price
Cons: Everything except the friendly staff
Location: Excellent location walking distance to all shops and Olympic Museum
Hotel staff is extremely nice or at least appeared to be. Because of construction ongoing it was a bit dirty in halls and elevators but to be expected I guess. This Hotel is better suited for a couple in their mid 20's who are still into partying until 4:30am not a family with kids who have to get sleep so they can do things the next day. The bar patrons can be heard even on the 4th top floor of the hotel yelling and screaming into the wee morning hours. The walls must be paper thin because I heard a blaring TV next door until 5am. A lot of loud intoxicated people roaming the halls and talking like they are on full blast speaker all night long. Great for a night owl or young partying people but if you are a family looking to get a good night sleep don't even think about staying here. On a lighter note they are on Main Street though walking distance to all the shops and it does have a great view of the lake. Rooms need updating 10years ago.

In Transition

Stayed their twice the last month for a total of 5 nights: -Hotel should publish that it is under construction - noise during the daylight hours, but workers quiet at night -Hockey youngsters roam the halls unsupervised making noise -Nice Temperpedic mattress, but our second room had an old box spring, so new mat still sagged a lot - not comfortable -High spot - the Delta Blue bar had Slam Allen a blues guitarist who was beyond excellent - one of the best I have ever heard

A very convenient, clean place to stay.

Posted Feb 23, 2015
Cons: Toilet in room 421 needs fixing.
I loved staying on the strip of lake placid and being able to walk most places. Enjoyed the restaurant for breakfast. It was good, but, a little pricey. Enjoyed the bar and the free band. Room was very large and comfortable. They let us check in early too! Will stay there again.
