Beautiful hotel at a perfect location close to town. The restaurants are fabulous, all three of them and the hotel staff was lovely. Will only stay here from now on.

Off season at Mirror Lake Inn

Posted Apr 15, 2013
Pros: Cozy Adirondack inn, a classic.
Cons: The fragrance from the spa at the entrance
Location: Great location, on the lake, just slightly off the main drag to afford some solitude.
Our first visit to Mirror Lake Inn and the Lake Placid area. We were here for some late Season skiing and, although the weather was disappointing: cold, wet with freezing rain, the skiing was fine and the accommodation excellent. This is a classic old Adirondack hotel with lots of stuffed animal heads mounted on the walls and a wonderful ambience and very accommodating staff. The food was very good and the Friday evening in the bar with excellent live entertainment was great fun. The memorabilia of the 1932 and 1980 Olympics was also of great interest. Also, the prohibition of cell phones was a welcome respite. We visited in what they would refer to as "off season", but, nonetheless, had a very enjoyable time. The room was located in the Terrace accessible to the main hotel either indoors or outside. The room was lovely, well appointed with arts and crafts furniture. We will plan to return next hear.

Great getaway for couples

Posted Jan 28, 2013
Pros: Common rooms
Location: Beautiful, lakeside with a view of the high peaks
The staff was exceptional and the hotel beautiful. Very comfortable room and nice common areas. We went in late January and the lake was frozen so we were able to walk on it which was fun. The hotel does accommodate families, but this is not the atmosphere for children. We left ours at home and would recommend others do the same! Most of the guests were couples who were looking for a quiet retreat. It is worth noting that the hotel does charge for 2 days upon receipt of your reservation which surprised us. Not a big deal, but different than many other hotels we have stayed in.

An Adirondack Dream Hotel

Posted Nov 24, 2012
Pros: The views, the staff, the convenience and comfort.
Cons: You do hear your neighbors (and the plumbing).
Location: Mirror Lake is in the town of Lake Placid, and it is a scenic wonderland.
This hotel typifies the Adirondack experience at its best. The decor is simple and elegant. The staff is competent, friendly, and unassuming. The food is splendid, a fine buffet breakfast and a range of choices for dinner: a formal restaurant, an informal bar and restaurant, and a cottage for sandwiches and snacks. Th views (lake and mountains) are spectacular, the distance to town easily walkable. A place to relax and enjoy nature, yourself, friends, loved ones.

We loved spending our anniversary at this quaint inn. No screaming kids and noise here. It's peaceful and quiet heaven!
