terrible experience

Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: Nothing, except for the nice lady who showed us to our suite.
Cons: Everything!
Location: The location is great, and is close to main street, hiking, movies, golf, and shopping.
Well, where shall i begin. The outward appearance of the Inn was awful .Not very inviting. Needs paint like no tomorrow. Looks like it has not been painted since the 70's. Our room was the 2 queen and 2 double beds suite. the kitchen was dirty and smelled awful! the room with the 2 queen beds had cobwebs on the ceiling! the blinds looks like they have not been dusted since the 70"s.The bed spread was dirty but the bed sheets were clean though. The (lake) in the back view is gone, it is now a stream.(time to change your description). The bathrooms looked like they had some updating but unfortunately just paint. The shower curtain had mold on it and the surround in the bath was falling apart and had mold behind it.The whole place is still stuck in the 70's and it shows! The pool was also dirty and would not let my girls swim.

Needs a lot of work to reach the par level.

Swimming pool did not work, jacuzzi did not work, very old tv and a/c, construction noise instead of lake view.

Has to be seriously refreshed!!

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: We stayed only two nights...
Cons: Everything...
Location: Lake Placid is a wonderful place to visit. Maybe the only positive aspect but, on the other hand, every hotel offers that!
The office looks like a dump, the owner looks like a hillbilly and the roomis less than basic. What else to say...

The room was very dirty. Needs vacuuming.

Pros: No obvious crime scene tape.
Cons: Everything.
Location: Great hiking, restaurants and shops.
This hotel is worth about 1/4 of the price. It is very dirty, in disrepair. When we checked in at 8:30, we had to drive to the rear and honk the horn to get the owner to give us the keys. It says pool, but it was never opened despite 80+ temperatures. It is terrible. Do not stay here.

Cottage-type rooms clean but old

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: Very conveniently located to Lake Placid town, Olympic venues, ski area. The room rate was very reasonable. But for that rate no breakfast included
Cons: Buy a better quallity toilet paper!!! And a flat screen TV wouldn't hurt either. The exterior of the main building is much in need of painting.
Location: We came for the ECAC Hockey Championship tournament, and the hotel was close to the ice rink and close to several bar/grill type restaurants.
The room was perfectly adequate, but there were a bare minimum of amenities. It was old, "woodsy", paneled walls, very small bath. No toiletries, see-thru toilet paper, and a 30-year old TV made it seem dowdy. On the other hand, the place was clean, warm, and the man in charge very pleasant. I suppose I would stay there again, but only if I couldn't get in anywhere else.

Decent accommodations close to Whiteface.

Posted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: The close proximity to town. In nice weather you could easily walk. It was a short 15 minute drive to Whiteface.
Cons: Certainly the rooms could be updated, although the LCD TV's and BluRay DVD player are reasonably new. It could use new windows that are less drafty.
Location: Whiteface, the village of Lake Placid and 1932 / 1980 Olympic venue's / history. Plenty of restaurants and quaint shops.
This is not a Marriott or Hilton, but you are not paying Marriott or Hilton rates. If you are looking for a place to stay at a reasonable rate that's real close to the center of Lake Placid and a short drive to Whiteface, you should definitely consider The Prague Inn and Suites. The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of hot water, the LCD TV's are reasonably new, the fireplace was pleasant and there was a kitchenette with all the amenities. Charlie, who I assume is the owner is very friendly. Our door lock got stuck and he came out near midnight to fix it. When it was brought to his attention that there was no remote for the DVD player he went out and got one while we were at dinner. He ensured that we could get into our cottage when we arrived late by leaving the key where we could retrieve it. I would definitely consider staying again if I was going back to Whiteface.

Nice set up, but old and drafty.

Posted Jan 22, 2014
Pros: Free firewood, parking was good, location was great.
Cons: Fix holes around fireplace. A double sink. Utensils for cooking.
Location: Close to town, skiing, and jumping complex. Great location.
We got the 2 bedroom suite. Took our three girls skiing. Loved the set up, but very old and drafty. No large utensils which made it difficult for cooking. Large holes in front of the fireplace floor with very cold air. Great service, nice people, but not the Hilton.

Nice stay near Whiteface Mountain skiing.

Posted Jan 22, 2014
Pros: The owner was very friendly. The room was very warm (it was wintertime). Very roomy, nice view. Close to hiking trails. Nice bathroom.
Cons: The jacuzzi didn't work. The room could have been cleaner. There were food crumbs in the kitchenette area floor.
Location: Whiteface Mountain for skiing. Hiking trails in the Adirondacks. Olympic Arena, iceskating, restaurants and shopping in Lake Placid.

Good location. Property generally run-down.

Posted Aug 20, 2013
Pros: Location and price
Cons: Don't advertise functions which do not exist, create a functional office in a modern building.
Location: Location facilitated biking, climbing, golfing, visiting Olympics facilities. Downtown parking reasonable, including price.
We would have been very unhappy if we had children who were looking forward to using the pool. It was NOT heated (as advertised) and generally not well maintained. The office building should be bulldozed and rebuilt. The bedroom buildings appeared solid and secure, even though there was no siding on the back walls.
