Perfect Stay

Posted Jan 17, 2015
Pros: We liked nearly everything about this hotel. Very enjoyable stay.
Cons: Get rid of the excessive parking charge. Pillows were too soft (but I didnt enquire as to if I could get different ones so probably easy fixed)
Found this hotel to be excellent in all respects. Room was very nicely decorated and very modern. Both kitchen and bathroom were very nice. All the hotel facilities appeared well maintained and in working order (used the gym and the hot tubs and pool). Didnt use the teen club or kids club but these rooms appeared to be excellent as well. Shower head was leaking a lot when we first arrived but it was fixed within 24hrs of reporting the problem.

Awesome hotel for the family ski trip

Posted Jan 12, 2015
Pros: as stated above, especially the astronomy class
We had a 3 year old and 6 month old and wanted to make sure we found a hotel that was great for the kids, a great location for the lift (it's next to the Gondola) and had enough style and comfort that it felt like a real break for us too. Marriott Timber Lodge had it all. 2 kids play areas (one for young kids and one for teenagers where the kids got free cookies), activities every day for the kids (and grown ups), friendly staff and a stylish lounge area great for all the family. Our 3 year old loved the outdoor pool and hot tubs even in early January! It even had free ski locker room to leave skis and boots. We loved the apres ski hot chocolate! Our room was one of the family suites which was great as we had my mum staying with us. It had 2 TVs, lots of TV channels, a great fireplace, washer/dryers and a great kitchen and dining room and lounge room with vert comfy pull out sofa bed. All was clean and well presented. Really felt special and a treat. If you are there on a Tuesday make sure you check out the stargazing class. It's complementary and was the highlight of our trip. We had an ace astronomer from the hotel show us through the solar system in our night sky above the hotel, getting to see the moon, Jupiter and its moons and even the galaxy Andromeda! We also had a fantastic meal at the Fire & Ice restaurant part of the hotel. All in all i cant recommend the hotel highly enough. I'd say its the place to stay in Tahoe, especially if you are bringing the kids!

Nice hotel, very central

Posted Jan 6, 2015
Pros: location
Cons: service
Hotel is a prime location for heavenly skiing/ gondola. The hotel is clean and beds are comfortable. The price of a regular room (not villa) is steep given no daily maid service. Also, they force you to valet for 26.00 and then the bell men were too busy to help us unload our bags so we loaded our own trolley and walked it across the hotel including outdoors to be in the Alpine building which is the farthest end of the hotel (and you must walk outide to access it). And during the winter, walking outside with your own bags in unpleasant. For a steep price, there is no free coffee in the monrings, but they did put out about 1 dozen day old looking doughnuts which they cut in half for free in the lobby in the monring. Overall, the facilities are nice, you can't beat the location, but very lacking in service. We have stayed in a villa before which was more updated, less far from the lobby and a more pelasant experience. Would rather pay less for a standard room in another hotel.

3 star hotel with 2 star service and 5 star price

Posted Jan 6, 2015
The hotel location is great for skiing. However, the room is tiny. Waiting line for the restaurant is too long. When we checked out the hotel, the front desk actually checked out a wrong room. Parking is absolutely a nightmare. There is no self parking. Valet parking scratched my side view mirror. It took me multiple visits to the valet desk to file a complain. I still haven't received any response from them after 2 weeks. The price per night is more than most 5 star hotels yet the experience doesn't deserve the cost.

Terrible customer service

Posted Dec 18, 2014
Pros: Convenient location.
Cons: Customer service.
Bottom line - the customer service was poor. We stayed 2 nights - the room key that we received when we checked in did not work the second day. They said that's because we had 2 reservations. They ran my credit card 3 times in 2 days(for some kind of room charges)...when I asked why they gave all these different(lame) reasons. The girl who did the check out couldn't figure out how to do the printed room statement.
