Close to the ski resort, great pool area

Posted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: Location to the ski resort
Cons: Bringing it up to current design. Some things a bit out of date.
Location: Close to ski resort, hiking, biking, golf, water sports at Lake Tahoe, dining, shopping.
We really enjoy the Resort at Squaw Creek. Staff is great, hotel is lovely and the rooms are very nice with nice appointments. Some things are a bit outdated.

winter ski trip

Posted Mar 6, 2015
Pros: The location.
Cons: A new GM and staff who cares about guests happy who pay the ridiculous prices for average food.
Location: Skiing, and bike riding during the summer.
The property is nice but the service is below average especially when you consider the cost. Thevicere are no drinking fountains in the lobby so they put water out, but around 5:00 they take the water down and make you go to the bar to get water (so they can sell drinks). I bought drinks, but why not make it comfortable for the guests who do not drink (such as children). We asked the room service folks to come back because we were getting ready-they didn't. We lost a sweater, asking the front desk if they would look for it and call us-they didn't. There were piles of wet towls around the pool and hot tub area that were not picked up. It was very crowded and there was no one to service the area at night. We ate overly expensive food in the bar and the breakfast buffet with terrible service. No one picked up our plates, and waited and waited to get the attention of someone to take our order and fill up our water. There were glasses and cups everywhere in the lobby, garbage was over-flowing. They were just terrible and you pay a premium to stay there! I expresses my frustration with the GM (leaving a vm) and he never even called back. I spent almost $4000 there and would never go back.

Dear Michael, Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your stay with us. We always appreciate hearing directly from our guests. It is clear from your comments that we did not live up to our own standard of Four Diamond service, and I can appreciate that the accumulated frustration from these incidents would leave you with a sour taste on our resort. I have brought your comments to our weekly staff meeting to serve as an example of how every single guest interaction counts and that our lapses in service standards can have a much greater impact than just one minor inconvenience. I hope you were able to enjoy the rest of your vacation and to spend quality time with your family in our beautiful mountain valley. Please accept my apologies that we did not offer you the exemplary service for which we are known. Sincerely, Andre Priemer, General Manager

Wonderful getaway

We stayed one night. We really enjoyed all the hotel had to offer. The kids loved it just as much. Can't wait to book again for a longer visit.

Disappointing.

Posted Feb 24, 2015
The hotel was booked 100% due to the holiday. Our room was not ready despite an evening checkin. Took nearly 2 hours to get our luggage delivered to the room (they lost it for a while and we had to go into the back rooms of the hotel to identify it). Hot tubs were absolutely overrun (standing room only with 30+ unsupervised kids in the large tub). Large hot tub broke the second day we were there. Rooms not sound insulated and we could hear noisy people in the hall all night long. Hotel seemed very cheap in what they would provide - for example they would not replace the coffee, or dish soap. They said only one coffee packet per room per stay. Pretty stingy for a $400 per night room. Cleaning staff was awful in that they would randomly remove items from the room and we would have to call the front desk for replacements including toilet paper and towels. Shuttle to the main ski area was overrun. It took over an hour to get a spot on the shuttle back to the hotel after a day of skiing. Spend your money somewhere else.

Dear Traveler, Thank you for posting your comments regarding your stay over the holiday. Our goal is to deliver Four Diamond service to every guest with every interaction, and it is clear that did not happen in this instance. While the holidays are a particularly busy period all over Lake Tahoe, we do strive to meet our guests expectations of a relaxed and enjoyable stay. We are reviewing your comments in our weekly staff meeting as we try to find ways to mitigate the overall busy-ness of a family-friendly resort during the popular winter holidays. Thank you again for your perspective. It is always helpful to hear what our guests are experiencing first-hand. Sincerely, Andre Priemer, General Manager

Great Experience Overall

Posted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: Convenient to skiing at Squaw. Nice appearance.
Cons: comfort of sofa bed and roll away bed
Overall we had a very enjoyable time. Room was nice as were all of the facilities, staff and amenities. The only negatives were: 1. We had booked a Valley View which we did not get even though I reiterated that's what we should have. 2. both the sofa bed and the roll away bed were very uncomfortable. Otherwise we had a wonderful trip.
