"A perfect location for skiers"
We LOVE our stay at the Tahoe Mountain Lodge - Big Horn. When we booked it, we didn't realize how perfect this location is. We walked out the lobby and the entrance for the gondola ride was only steps away. The kids took ski lesson at the Northstar Ski school and it was also few doors down from the lobby right in the village. At the end of the day after skiing, it was so good to see the condo right there when we come back without having to drive and log our ski equipment around. The lobby leads right into the village which has all the fun food and shopping activities. One note for people coming in, make sure you stop by the local grocery store to stock up before coming in. There isn't any small grocery shop in the village itself. The condo was super nice. It has really well-stocked kitchen with everything you need. The full-size washer and dryer was very handy as well. We had the room facing the back side of the village and it was very quite. The garage was indoor heated underground, close to our unit, so it was again convenient. The thing that was not what we expected was the bed set up. We had requested 2-twin-bed in one of the room, Instead, we got a queen bed. According to the front desk, it really depends on how the owner of the condo set up the room, so I guess Expedia could modify that on the request for room setup.

"Beautiful views"
Stayed for 2 nights in early May so we didn't swim or use the pool facilities. Would recommend getting a room on top floor. Floors very creaky. Were awakened at 2:00 AM by guest walking across floor. Room was decorated nicely and clean.

"Friendly Staff, Beautiful Rooms."
This is a beautiful hotel with a great view of the mountains because of the high altitude. There's a shuttle that takes you back and forth from the hotel to casinos, which is convenient because it was snowing when we arrived and were afraid to drive. The rooms are beautiful, however our suite had some pistachio shells under the bed that had been missed by housekeeping and my mother's suite had a dirty blanket that needed to be replaced when they arrived. Early check-in was a huge plus, and the entire staff was friendly. There wasn't a single bad experience with the hotel workers and they seemed all happy to help the guests. I highly recommend this hotel. However, if you have problems breathing or have altitude sickness in your medical history, seek advice from a doctor before you go. The altitude was a bit difficult at times. :)

    When to Visit Lake Tahoe

Because of Lake Tahoe’s unique location, it draws in tourists throughout the year. Winter is a prime time to visit because of the numerous ski slopes where you can shred some powder or simply enjoy the mountain views with a cup of hot cocoa in hand. Winter highs are typically around 40 degrees, making even January a pleasant month to visit. However, the most popular time to head to the area is in the summer when you spend life on the beach. During June through August, temperatures make it into the 70s, creating perfect weather for trail hiking, canoeing, beach-going, and a variety of water sports and cruises. If you are looking for the best deal, book hotels in Lake Tahoe through Expedia.com for the spring or fall months, which are the off-peak seasons.

    Things to Do

Lake Tahoe offers activities for all ages. From hiking and nature watching to casinos and nightlife, the area has it all. The region known as South Tahoe has several casinos if you are looking to spice up your life. North Tahoe has beautiful beaches, shopping in the Kings Beach area, golf clubs, and miniature golf for the whole family. For some culture, head to the Lake Tahoe Historical Society Museum for a glimpse of local history or the KidZone Museum where even toddlers will find something fun to explore. Of course, the outdoors plays a major role in Lake Tahoe activities. On both the California and Nevada sides of the lake, you will find numerous hiking trails for guided or self-guided tours. If you are feeling very adventurous, try a hot air balloon trip or a gondola ride up the side of the mountain.

    Typical Resort Amenities

Although you can find all types of lodging in the area, the region is best known for Lake Tahoe luxury resorts. These resorts are full of the top amenities that will leave you feeling pampered and relaxed by the end of your trip. Typical amenities include on-site restaurants and bars, room service, complimentary newspapers and bottled water, and indoor swimming pools. Many luxury resorts also offer a full-service spa and suites with whirlpools or fireplaces. If you are traveling with children, you can book family resorts in Lake Tahoe, California, which often have casual rooms, continental breakfasts, separate children’s pools, and two-bedroom suites. Ski resorts in Lake Tahoe are another great option if you are looking for ski slopes directly accessible from the hotel. You will also find cheap deals on accommodation and ski packages at these resorts.

    The Lake Tahoe Region

While there is enough around the Lake Tahoe resorts to fill your time completely, the surrounding region is worth exploring as well. Check out the Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park and Eldorado National Forest, which boast gorgeous mountain scenery and stunning vistas that will have you filling up your camera with photos in minutes. The closest large city is Carson City, Nevada, where you can get a taste of the Old West by touring old homes and historical buildings. Slightly farther to the northeast is Reno, Nevada, a classic gambling town. To the west via an easy drive on the interstate is Sacramento, California, a fun city for families to visit. Check out the Railroad Museum, the Sacramento Zoo, or the State Capitol and Governor’s Mansion.

Lake Tahoe is bustling with activity during all four seasons. Whether you are looking for a peaceful beachside getaway or a skiing adventure, this Sierra Nevada jewel will certainly delight you with its indoor attractions and outdoor beauty. Head to Expedia.com when you are ready to book a top Lake Tahoe hotel or resort.
