UnusualPosted Oct 16, 2013
Pros: Confort, Privacy, Views.
Cons: Had trouble with the sliding door. Maybe a better description in the book of how it opens.
Location: Lake walk across the road. Shopping, Museums, adventure activities, gallerys. Everything for everyone.
We had a most unusual experience where we were without lighting for a period of time, and unable to contact anyone. However the owners were very apologetic and were wonderful in negotiating a compromise on the overnight stay. Otherwise a lovely room (16) with glorious views of the mountain, and a lovely private balcony for a summer breakfast or dinner. We also ordered dinner in from a menu in the room book. It was an excellent meal. Without the uncommon incident we would have rated this Hotel as excellent all round.

Overlook Lake TaupoPosted Sep 19, 2013
Pros: It had a separate bedroom from the main living area, separated by a small kitchenette, which was essential for us who wanted to cook our own meals
Cons: Everything was fine for us
Location: There are lots of tourist attractions nearby as already stated above, but also the town itself has some lovely shops to help you enjoy your experience
The accommodation was right on the lake front, which gave us nice views. We drove around a lot to the marina and across the other side of the lake, and also visited Huka Falls and the Craters of the Moon Thermal area, which is not far from the main part of town. Further away we drove to the mountains, but this was a bit restricting as the weather closed in, but we did manage to drive above the snow line.

Overnight on the drive southPosted Aug 28, 2013
Cons: Outside appearance updated.
Location: Directly opposite lake beach. 10 minute walk to town. 15 minute walk or 2 minute drive to huge park for kids.
Lovely motel right across from the lake, with lots of hot spots in the water. Nice walk to town. A little bit difficult to squeeze our toddler and baby in around the rooms but we should have moved everyone around once we were finished in the living area/tv room. Sofa beds aren't designed for 2 adults! The kitchen facilities here were especially good.

You won't be disappointedPosted Jun 4, 2013
Pros: Fantastic staff, room was great with 3 areas, and bedroom at back, nice and quiet.
Location: World class views, very close to Taupo shops and restaurants.
The staff were wonderful - we were running late and they couldn't do enough to accommodate us. Nice and quiet even though right on main road, views of lake and mountains spectacular. Highly recommend.

We, stayed at Sails while in Taupo for our older son's wedding. Best managed Quality property we've ever stayed in. Well maintained, clean, and friendly. Location directly across road from beach and an easy 10 min walk into town. Great to have laundry facilities on site. Our younger son and his wife stayed in a front unit, had a superb lake veiw, and did not find traffic noise kept them awake. Understand Choice chain moved their Quality branding to another property in Taupo in January because they had a restaurant. Choice's loss!

Great hotel, great views.Posted Apr 25, 2012
Pros: View from the balcony and spa.
Hotel is exactly as it appears on the website. Clean, nice sized rooms and a spacious spa. Great views over the lake to the mountains and a walkable distance to the main part of town.

Quaility Sails InnTau poPosted Apr 6, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel/Motel was of a little tired and in need of a re vamp. We thought it was over priced compared to the standard we had already experienced in New Zealand. The staff although very friendly were hard to raise most times I called at the office. The position was great with a wonderful view but right on a main raod so it made it impossible to sit outside on the balcony.

Location: Great location, great views, close to town but far enough away.
Hotel room was immaculately clean, presentation was fantastic, had everything we needed, great layout and very user friendly and comfortable. The bed was great, we slept wonderfully. My partner commented it was the first place she had stayed ever that had provided us with the latest women's magazine. Richard the owner / manager was very helpful, friendly and welcoming. I could not fault it in any way, it was the best experience I have had for many years. Highly recommend it to everyone, we will definately be returning. Thank you.

Good location, decent motelPosted Apr 5, 2011 on Hotels.com
Good motel for exploring Lake Taupo. A 20 minute walk into the town centre, so not suitable for those wanting to be 'in the middle' of things. Good Lake views, clean room. Trouble booking in (they had closed the office), but free Wi-fi and spa baths so would recommend.
