Great location, lovely mineral spa

Posted Mar 13, 2014 on Hotels.com
A nice stay here. It was nice to have a private mineral spa to soak in at the end of the day. Staff were friendly, room was kept clean by very good daily housekeeping. The only downside was that the rooms need a little TLC and everything seemed to squeak!

The room was not up to the standard you would expect from a hotel with 4 rating. No dusting of lights, ceiling. And around the toilet needed more cleaning. Sorry about my dislikes the staff I met were very helpful.

Staff are great but the rooms are smelly and hot!

Posted Jan 21, 2013
Pros: Quiet, staff were very welcoming
Cons: Rooms were very musty, spa bath wasn't too clean and had stains around the edges, TV was teeny tiny, no air con or fan to keep cool
Location: Good quiet location but not walking distance to town
The hotel reception staff were very welcoming and helpful, but the room we stayed in had a very, very strong musty smell in it. Each room has it's own mineral spa bath so I think the moisture from these just hangs around in the room. We stayed here just for one night in summer and we found the rooms far too hot and we could hardly sleep. There's no air conditioning or fan and the two windows can only be opened about 10cm. We were thinking about keeping the front door open at one stage! The parking is ok, but a bit cramped which makes for some manovering (even in a small car) if other larger vehicles have taken up lots of space. Probably won't stay here again.

Own spa! great place

Posted Jun 26, 2012
Pros: Own spa, warm rooms, quiet, soft sheets, huge rooms, great service and location, very cheap
Cons: prob could get sky tv in the future ?
Location: right on the lake front, near to town, easy to find
Great service, really quiet and comfy rooms, best part is your own private mineral spa which leaves your skin and your body really amazing! really relaxing. will stay there again in a heart beat. also great price !!!!

a nice break for the grandparents

Posted Nov 9, 2011
Location: Acacia Bay, it is so pretty at night with all the lights and some very nice homes too and to take a nice leisurely drive
Taupo really is a very lovely city, very pretty and very nicely laid out. the people are friendly and helpful too. At Karaka tree we felt relaxed and comfortable. Apart from us having a short break the whole trip was for my grand daughters soccer tourment
