I was sceptical when booking a hotel with only 10 bed, pretending 4*. Hoewever, when getting there we were thrilled by the location, panoramic view and the modern rooms, all with a very personal and friendly service.

We booked this for a weekend away in the Italian lake district to be away from the loud and sometimes raucous nature of the lake resorts. It's in a stunning location, perched on the mountain edge and overlooking one of the lakes. We had some minor confusion checking in - apparently they were full and were unable to accommodate another booking made through Expedia, but it turned out not to be our reservation. All the same, they were at the ready with another property, internet preview and were prepared to deliver the guests if they needed transport. Breakfast was a normal Italian hotel breakfast, but the bread and pastry selections were particularly nice. We also dined one evening in the restaurant and had a nice meal with a stunning lake view. Our room had a fantastic terrace and view as well. We were facing the funicular train which was not running, which might add some noise during the day if it were. It was otherwise tranquil and full of birdsong.
