Adequate

Posted Feb 25, 2015
Pros: Room was good size. Nice to have a refrigerator. Cleaner than expected. Good parking area.
Cons: Vacuum around the edges of the rooms. Improve breakfast offerings. Use Kilz or other sealer type paint in hallway and replace that carpet.
Location: Walking distance for eating.
Minimal, skimpy breakfast. Relatively clean. Needs a good vacuuming around the edges. Rooms are smoke free smelling though hallway had a strong old smoke smell. Hallway was also dimly lit. Pool area looked very nice though too cold outside to give it a whirl. Could tell work was being done to improve the hotel. Within walking distance (a block at most) of Manny's, a casual steakhouse.

The room was extremely dirty and when I complained they admitted that they forgot to clean the room. They then offered us another room that they guaranteed would be clean and it was almost as bad. The place was very run down and creepy and the general manager wouldn't even talk to us and they refused to give our money back when I told them I wouldn't let my kids sleep there. We had to travel 30 mIles to sleep in another hotel because all the others in town were booked up but it was worth it to not have to stay at the Howard Johnson.

Pros: LOCATION
THE SLIDING GLASS DOOR TO MY ROOM DID NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY AND WAS HELD IN PLACE BY A METAL BAR. EVEN WITH ALL THE LAMPS IN THE ROOM ON, IT WAS DARK IN THE ROOM. THE HOTEL SIGN WAS NOT LIT AT NIGHT.

Nothing great about location but very reasonable price and the rooms were very clean and quiet. The breakfast was also quite good if a bit simple.

Value lodging for a trip to Legoland

Posted Jan 12, 2015
Pros: Value price Close to Legoland
Cons: Strong cigaret smell in hallways Breakfast was underwhelming
Location: 7 miles from Legoland Not sure there is much else in Winter Haven.
A bit underwhelming, but for a value hotel when visiting Legoland, this will do. The hallways smelled strongly of cigaret smoke, but thankfully our room had no hint of that odor. Room was clean and they were very kind when I called to notify them our flight was delayed and we would have an extremely late check-in. Continental breakfast can vary from hotel to hotel. This was certainly on the bagel or donut side, but we didn't expect much more. Our bathroom light blew and they were there to fix it within five minutes of my call to the front desk.

Needs updating

Posted Jan 8, 2015
Pros: I liked the location--it was close to restaurants.
Cons: The rooms badly need updating along with the bathrooms. However, they were clean
Location: Lots of restaurants and some shopping. The location was great.
The hotel staff were pleasant but the hallways were dark and dreary and a little smelly. The hotel is in a great location but could really use some much needed upgrades. The had accommodations for my pet (a dog) and I did like that as well.

Stay Away

The hotel stinks of smoke and mildew. Hallways are dark. Lock on pato door is a joke. My son was able to lock and unlock the patio door from the outside . Horrible hotel.

Hotel close to LEGOLAND.

Posted Dec 17, 2014
Pros: The Staff is very competent. Quick Check-in, quick Check-Out.
Cons: Easier access to the Internet is needed.
Location: We were able to use this hotel to stay in preparation for a JROTC Competition at Flaming Arrow Scout Reservation in Lake Wales.
This an incredible hotel for the money. Hotel has a high standard of cleanliness and comfort. The Staff is excellent and very helpful and willing to accommodate your special needs. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommend for families planning to attend LEGOLAND.
