Staff and Service at Breakfast

Posted Nov 3, 2014
Cons: Training in the restaurant.
Location: Glasgow
Was really disappointed we had a 2 night stay and after having a bad experience on Sat morning we hoped they would have got this sorted out for the Sun. To say the service was terrible was an understatement. The wait to be seated was 15-30 min wouldn't have minded but there was empty tables just no one clearing them. breakfast buffet table was needing refilled, rolls were hard and stale! received our breakfast but no one asked if we required extras so we got the basic breakfast! never received our tea and toast, were finished our breakfast when the waitress asked if we would like more considering we hadn't receive our first was quite terrible. the experience was quite shocking and we are not one to complain but this was so bad. We did speak to the acting manager and did receive a bottle of champagne just because it was my birthday and she wanted to give me something. Told her we were looking for the breakfast to be taken of our bill, but because we paid through Expedia she would have to speak to her manager tomorrow being assured we will be receiving something through the post! We are still waiting we stayed 10-12 Oct.

Comfort, style and great staff.

Posted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: Everthing, but particularly the staff.
Cons: Keep up the training of the new waiters.
Can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Not only is it well furbished and comfortable, the staff are outstanding in their friendliness. I stayed on a Saturday night when there was a wedding on and a large coach party but I still got swift, helpful service, as did everyone else. What the young men in the restaurant lacked in waiting on table experience was more than made up for by their politeness, and willingness to find out for us when they didn't know about something. I have stayed in many hotels around the world but the warmth of the welcome, comfort of the bed, and service I got at the Crutherland was second to none. Thank you all.

Warm welcome and good breakfast

Good value - but bathrooms are a little tired and the bedrooms are a bit "chintzy" and a little dated - however I guess it fits the country house style. Receptionist was very warm and welcoming. Breakfast buffet was excellent - and hot cooked breakfast good too. Location is a bit remote for Glasgow itself - but very quiet and surrounded by lovely grounds.

Great staff, shame aboout situation of the rooms we had - selected hotel because of the grounds, room we were allocated looked out at a roof generator and air con units. We mentioned to reception and were moved to a better room but still couldn't see much - hotel was booked up so appreciated the gesture. Lovely people but room wasn't what we were expecting from the website.

Pros: location
Cons: decoration is getting a little shabby
Location: New Lanark was interesting
the room was very comfortable , and although the hotel needs a bit of redecoration in places , it is still a lovely place to stay. The staff at breakfast could not have been better - friendly , efficient and smart. The pool was great and we used it and the sauna both evening and morning. A, really lovely , relaxing stay . thank you

Beautiful hotel , cleanliness needs to match

Posted Jul 11, 2014
Pros: The fitness suite, it's larger and better equipped than my gym and London!
Cons: Cleanliness of rooms.
Location: It's about an hour up to Loch Lomond and we drove up there and had breakfast the next morning.
We stayed here for a night on our way to the Highlands. The room was well appointed and comfortable. Our only issue was the pillow cases had not been changed and reeked of men's cologne. Furthermore, there were long dark hairs around the edge of the bathtub. It was so late and we were so tired that we overlooked it at the time but given the pristine nature of the rest of the hotel it was disappointing that the cleaning service wasn't as professional/

Nice wedding venue

Posted May 14, 2014
Cons: Breakfast wasn't as good as I had hoped, eggs were a bit rubbery and sausages not browned all over. No haggis either!
Attended a wedding there and had a lovely day and night. Main function room was great for a large wedding, lovely and bright for the wedding breakfast but also great for dancing later.
