Wonderful retreat

I wanted a night near to Preston where I could forget everything. It was like re-living my childhood holidays. The staff ere wonderful, and the prices very cheap. Dinner and breakfast were great except for the quality of the sausage.

Bartle Hall Country Hotel

I stayed here on a mid week during a business trip to Preston. The hotel was not central to Preston, but that did not put me off. The staff here were superb from arrival to departure. The bar area was occupied by similar business travellers and the lady that was serving that evening was excellent. Very attentive and polite too. I would happily stay here again.

Very good stay. Staff very helpful. The rooms were rather hot and windows didn't open very far. Would stay here again

Great hotel and scenic location on edge of city
Posted Jan 25, 2012
Pros: Level of service
Cons: Food - sometimes great, sometimes not so good
Location: Nice location - wouldn't think you were in Preston. However, not much near by + no lighting or pavement on road so can't go out on foot after dark
Very nice hotel, in a remote corner of Preston (scenic location, feel as if you are in middle of the countryside). Staff were extremely helpful, room was nice and large but maybe a bit old fashioned for me. I had two meals in the hotel - the lamb was lovely but I thought the steak was very fatty and didn't taste too good. If staying in Preston area and going by car this must be first choice.

Beautiful peaceful surroundings

Staff were very friendly and helpful . Breakfast was delicious. Lovely surroundings. We used it as a peaceful base to go to an event in Blackpool and the drive in took about 20-30 minutes. Would definitely do this again and stay at this beautiful hotel. Our only criticism was that the heating in our room was n't working so it was rather chilly. Staff told us that there was a problem and the heating was being fixed. Beware of relying on satnav to find the hotel as it abandons you a few minutes before you arrive!

Retreat from corporate hotels
Posted Jan 12, 2012 on Hotels.com
A country house hotel with excellent service and fabulous food. I stayed here over two weeks as a single occupant, the rooms were smallish and a slightly jaded but spotless. I only managed to eat on a couple of occasions, due to working late, but what I had was very good and I especially like the "Bites" provided in the bedroom along with a good range of teas. Breakfast was cooked to order, I had the IOM kippers one morning which were the real deal. If you don't want a corporate cell with a big desk so you can work half the night, I recommend you stay here and enjoy a relaxing evening.

I stayed at this hotel for one night in November, the service and friendliness of the staff was second to none, the room was very comfortable and clean, the food was excellent. It would be difficult to fault anything about this hotel but if I had to I would suggest they need to modernise the bathrooms, overall it's a great place to stay and I will be staying there again when I'm in the area Ken - Pontefract
