Black hole in BlackpoolPosted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: Location was perfect. Cheap. Big breakfast.
Cons: Update EVERYTHING in the hotel It badly needs redecorating. See above.
Location: Its close to EVERYTHING in Blackpool. There is a tram stop just outside hotel if you don't want to walk.
Booked this hotel as I needed a large hotel to fit all 17 of us going up from London for a long weekend away for a birthday celebration. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. As a group we have travelled together many times and stayed in far cheaper hotels. Things that were a problem were: corridors that smelt STRONGLY like a toilet, NO hot water in any rooms on Saturday night, no wifi in any rooms, limited restaurant times, very dated décor, only small double beds, window that would not shut and whistled in the wind, having to walk through the smokers to get in and out of the hotel, not enough tea of coffee in rooms, no room to keep baggage before check in or after checkout (had to leave baggage next to the pool table while we waited for our train), poor room service (all of us found dirt under the beds), breakfast food was fine but don't drink the tea or coffee.

Average hotelPosted Feb 24, 2014
Hotel staff friendly enough. But the room we stayed in there was a fan exhaust down below are room window that disturbed us both nights and the no hot water until I complained was not good enough and then only lasted hot for 1 shower. And the mattress was solid.

Good location, but very run down.Posted Feb 22, 2014
We booked this hotel in a big group and although I had no issues, a number of our other friends did. The hotel is not as Grand as the name of the hotel would suggest. It is very run-down. There was no hot water during the evening, which affected my friend but I worked around that. The breakfast was simple - usual eggs and bacon, but we decided to eat out for out second morning. It is close to all the town's attractions and the tramline is nearby to take you to Pleasure Beach.

Great Value for Money with a Great Location.Posted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: Does exactly what it says on the tin. Great location. Great value for money. Good breakfast, no frills. Staff friendly and efficient.
Went dancing in the Tower during the day and then stayed one night at the hotel. Found a great little Italian restaurant just across the road, well worth a visit. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Great location. Great value for money. Good breakfast, no frills. Staff friendly and efficient.

Cheap, but not so cheerfulPosted Feb 19, 2014
This hotel has had it's day. It's now showing obvious signs of decline without any improvement work being done to fix it. The carpets in the hallways and bedrooms are stained a variety of colours, the windows don't close properly so the wind whistles through and the teles work some of the time. If you are looking for somewhere that is pretty cheap to stay, this fits the bill.

Pay the extra £5-£10 and stay somewhere elsePosted Feb 18, 2014
A great location but the hotel had seem better days. We arrived at 2pm to be told that we could not get into our rooms until 3pm and that there was no where to leave our luggage. Once in our rooms we found a draft coming through the poorly sealed windows making a whistling sound. Several internal walls has evidence of damp and a few window were boarded up with cardboard. I also found hairs in our bathroom when we first arrived. The wifi only worked in a small area. There was also no hot water on the Saturday and there was no phone in the room to call reception. Tried to call front desk on mobile to 0871 number so will wait to see the bill. Staff were not particularly apologetic. There was hot water the following day luckily. Breakfast was deep fried everything - bacon, sausages and fried bread. The eggs, toast and juice made up for it. We paid an extra £10 for a late check out (12pm) to come back at 11.30am to find our key did not work and had to go back to the reception to be let back into our room. If I ever go back to Blackpool, I will pay an extra £5 per night to stay somewhere else.

DREADFUL PLACE.... AVOID!!!Posted Dec 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
Third review..... same comments. This hotel should be ashamed to actually charge people to stay there. Poor quality on almost everything. Generally the interior is faded at best.... but shoddy is a better description. Worked on event in town that luckily meant I spent less than 4 hours per night in the place.... and that was really 4 hours too long. This chain should really look closely at the standard of other hotels in town now and at least try to keep up to 20th century levels.... and then perhaps get even closer to 21st century services.... and STANDARDS!!!
