Mixed Experience

Posted May 6, 2015
Pros: Location. Price.
Cons: Policing the occupants better. Didn't book in to be awakened at 5:00 a.m.
Location: Easy walk to any part of downtown Preston. Right next to bus station.
Thought I was in for a bad time when the first words I was greeted with were "you're early" after turning up 40 minutes before check-in time. Not what I want to hear after a four hour train journey. Then had to wait in restaurant while the only person on duty spent many minutes counting her till money. After that I couldn't complain about the rooms, the food or the service. One downturn was being wakened at 5:00 a.m. by the sound of numerous young, seemingly drunk men shouting, banging doors, doing push-ups and generally being disruptive in the hallways. When I opened the door to see what was happening I was asked by one if I could charge his mobile phone for him. When I mentioned it to staff, I was greeted by "well, it's a bank holiday". No apologies. Rooms were very clean. Lots of hot water. Lots of clean and good quality towels. Moderate free WiFi. Good breakfast offering. Price was extremely good. Big problems flushing toilet. A battle every time.

Comfortable no-frills stopover

Posted Mar 26, 2015 on Hotels
Does what it says on the tin: a comfortable bed in a clean no-frills hotel a few minutes' walk from the centre of Preston. Decent shower, flat screen TV, in-room coffee facilities all worked fine. The small gym has modern machines in good working order.

Central location for a business stay

Posted Mar 1, 2015 on Hotels
Hotel is in a central location, but has limited parking so you will be lucky to get a space. Service was good, rooms clean and tidy. Breakfast is too expensive at £12.95 per person

Nice hotel near to the theatre

Posted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: Comfort & friendliness of staff.
Cons: Condensation on windows.
As my wife is disabled we rang hotel & they kindly reserved us a disabled parking place. We had travelled up from Derby to see our granddaughter perform in a pantomime at the guildhall theatre, felt very comfortable for the four days we stayed at the Holiday Inn.

Facilities ok, but didn't get a good night's sleep

Posted Feb 19, 2015
Stayed two nights on business. On arrival the car park was full so had to park in the multi-storey over the road and get a voucher from reception. Staff were generally friendly and the restaurant food and breakfast were ok. However the room was too hot and dry and the soundproofing between rooms was non-existent so I could hear everything going on in the neighbouring rooms. Also there was a strange ticking noise that went on throughout the night. If I stay in Preston again I will look at alternative hotels.

stay

Not enough parking and had to park in the shady multi storey across the road. The hotel does have vouchers, but they tell you about this after you've paid £4 for to pay and display. The hotel is dated and looks like it had some kind of poorly executed nautical theme. although this wasn't the hotel's fault, there was road resurfacing work that went allll through the night. Apart from that, it was ok.

Good business accommodation

Staff were polite and helpful. Room was secure and comfortable. Shower temperature was difficult to set so opted to use the bath. Breakfast choice was wide which is always a bonus.
