Convenient city centre hotel.

Posted Feb 22, 2015
Pros: Location and breakfast
Cons: Redecoration throughout, new stair carpets
Location: The castle and Priory are worth a visit.
Conveniently located on the city centre one way system close to all attractions and amenities. Look out for the car park entrance before you get to the hotel; it's easily missed (the only sign is at high level and not very obvious) and then, like us, you have to go right round the one way system again and that can be very slow at peak times. The room was comfortable and warm but distinctly shabby and run down. The stair carpets were badly worn. Breakfast was good. I requested a quiet room as I am a light sleeper but we were given one overlooking the busy road & junction. Fortunately the secondary glazing was effective so I didn't ask for a move.

A night in the Royal Kings Arms

Posted Jan 30, 2015
Pros: location, price
Cons: general updating
Location: convenient city centre location near railway station. was visited by Michael Portillo in one of his railway journeys.
The Victorian building could do with some updating, but for the price this hotel is very good.

Nice hotel close to the train station

Posted Jan 6, 2015
Pros: Location, price, homely.
Cons: Interior was a bit tatty which is a pity. Quilt on the bed wasn't very heavy so would have to ask for another really.
Location: Close to the train station and the main street which brought me to where I needed to go the next morning.
Hotel was nice, well located and reasonably priced. It could do with a spruce up and putting extra blankets in the bedroom. If you're just bunking down for the night, it's perfectly fine. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Excellent price and location.

Posted Dec 14, 2014
Pros: Location and price.
Cons: Thicker walls?!
Location: Very close to station, attractions and shopping areas.
Got a good deal for room only for this hotel. Within easy walking distance of the railway station and local attractions. Room was okay. Only problem was very noisy people in next room. True, we didn't contact reception to complain as we didn't want to make a fuss. Otherwise a great place to stay and we would visit again.

Good location, reasonable price

Posted Dec 14, 2014
The hotel is very well located down town in Lancaster and is a nice old building with some lovely original features. The room we had was basic but for the price, ok. There was a range of rooms available and this should be kept in mind when booking. The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast room was an amazing ball room with a massive chandelier, very impressive! Food was great too.

Centrally situated hotel close to railway station.

Posted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: I appreciate its central location in the city and proximity to the railway station.
Cons: Hotter breakfast.
Location: Great pubs, lovely canal. For me personally, I have many friends who live here or make annual visits back to it to see parents and other relatives.
I have been an on and off visitor to this hotel for 36 years. It is a faithful and trusty bed for the night and a good cooked breakfast.
