beautiful hotel and very nice staff but needs updated pillows and mattress. both were very uncomfortable. also the bathroom was weirdly situated. the door swung in towards toliet making it hard to get out even if you are a small person. other than that everything was good. must try the breakfast smorgasbord next door at bird in hand resturant. extremely reasonable and absolutely delicious with very nice staff

Lovely Hotel in the heart of Amish Country

Posted Sep 13, 2014
Pros: Friendly, clean, convenient to all local attractions and right next door to theFarmers Market. The 3 swimming pools, spa pool and amusement area.
Cons: For the price, it is perfect.
Location: All local Bird in Hand attractions, shopping and buggy rides are close by, plus a mini golf and play park for kids right behind the hotel.
From the moment of check in, when the front desk staff present you with a loaf of peach bread, the experience at Bird in Hand Family Inn, is totally pleasing - the 2 indoor pools, 1 outdoor pool and a spa pool would be equally at home at a hotel costing 3 or 4 times the nightly rate !! The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the heating lamps still in the bathrooms on a timer switch are a lovely reminder of days gone by. If you are visiting Lancaster County, this is a wonderful place to stay.

Lovely inn surrounded by cornfields, cows, gardens

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: We loved the outdoor pool best.
Cons: Since we are in the area many weekends during the college football season. we wish the outdoor pool could remain open during warm Autumn days.
Location: While activities for all ages are near, people also come to Lancaster County to find a place that reminds them of a peaceful, gentle, kinder time!
The hotel staff was gracious and helpful with information about the hotel and the area. The entire hotel and grounds were beautiful, immaculate and well maintained. While the restaurant, theater, miniature golf course and ice cream shop were all adjacent, the beauty of the farm country also surrounded the resort. The "highway" had very light traffic and was quiet. Our favorite feature was the very large and beautiful outdoor pool. We found the heated indoor pools to be lovely as well. Can't wait to go back again!

Pleasant family inn

Posted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: Great location
Cons: Room could have been a bit cleaner
The hotel common areas were very clean, and the three pools were great. The pools got very busy at night, but it was very pleasant sitting around there in the late afternoon and enjoying the sun. The kids loved it. We had a double-queen room which was a bit on the dated side, but adequate. Sink was in the room, but the toilet/tub were in a separate space where you could close the door. Again, small but adequate. This place is a family-oriented inn with a nice big playground, mini golf and a petting zoo on the premises. We would not mind staying here again. Very close to all the PA Dutch country attractions and restaurants.

Great spot for kids

Cons: Update rooms...ours was older motel decor, but all very clean and functional.
Wish we had more time here. Animals to feed and pet, indoor and outdoor pools, big beautiful pond, miniature golf. Friendly people too!

A Great and Friendly Place to Stay

Posted Aug 17, 2014
This place was so nice! Everyone was very friendly, and we even got a little loaf of Wildberry Bread for being first time visitors. The hotel had a lot of stuff to offer right there (pools, mini golf, arcade). My fiance could not find the gym though. The only other down side was that when there was lightening outside the indoor pools closed too, but maybe there are safety regulations I don't know about in terms of that kind of thing. We did not get to use the pools because of that though. Besides that, everything at the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn was great and we would definitely stay there again!!

Nice Inn, close to seeing "Sight & Sounds"

Posted Jun 27, 2014
Pros: Location & seeing Amish buggies going by - only there overnight, so could not take advantage of things to do.
Location: Enjoyed our breakfast at the restaurant nearby & the items for sale.
It was perfect for the children with us who were wanting to get to MD to visit their cousins. No complaining after seeing the animals, fish & ducks in the pond & swimming until 9:30 P.M.

OK Location

Well the first room on the first level smelled like a wet dog. Then the second room smell a little better. We were in the room that were at the pool location. If I were to go back I wouldn't stay at the pool location..

Restful Surroundings

I enjoyed the indoor swimming pool. We were able to read in the gazebo near the pond. We saw families feeding the ducks and the fish in the pond.

It was only an overnight stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. However, I think I would like to try one of the back rooms. Air conditioner was a little noisy as was the refrigerator and I missed not being able to make popcorn as there was no microwave. I would not let those things keep me from coming back. Enjoyed the complimentary tour very much as well as the restaurant and farmer's market. Thinking about going back to see the live production and try the mini golf. :)
