Pros: Location, price
I've stayed at this hotel a few times, but this trip I realized how disappointing a place it is. It is one of the lower priced options for the area, and in a great location, but that's about the highlight of the place. I was in town for 2 nights for a work related training and planned on my hotel room being my home away from home. I realized that they did not have a refrigerator in the room, which I may have overlooked when looking at amenities, but it's one of those things you come to expect for a hotel room to have. There was no drain plug for the bath/shower. It is all outside entry for the rooms, and I was on the 2nd level. We had quite a bit of snow and the stairs were completely covered and iced over. I also found that I did not have a remote control for my television, and when I walked down to the front desk, I found the worker sitting in her car and the office locked. I eventually got my remote control, but as I was returning to my room, I noticed that the office was again locked up and the worker completely left the facility. I was very disappointed in this visit, and am not sure I'd be willing to go here again. If you need a cheap place to stay for the night, in a decent location, then this is probably the place for you. Everyone else should probably find a different option.

Do not stay at this hotel.Posted Jan 30, 2014
Pros: Absolutely nothing!
Cons: I don't think it can be improved!
Location: There is nothing by it plus no places to eat.
The room was not clean. Carpet did not look like it had been vacuum and the shower was a trickle along with the bathroom doorknob was hanging off the door so you were not able to shut the bathroom door. Stains on the bed and the towels looked dirty. I complained to the front desk clerk and she told me I would have to contact Expedia about the problems. She did not seem to be interested in hearing about my complaints. I would not recommend this Red Roof Inn to anyone or any other Red roof Inn.

Old RoomPosted Jan 13, 2014
Pros: Location near MSU.
The hotel is undergoing some renovation, according to the Marquee. I got one of the rooms yet to be renovated. New TV, old room.

Great pricePosted Dec 16, 2013
Pros: location and price and staff
Cons: Rooms need to be clean! especially sheets changed in between stays
Location: Great location to MSU pavillion, right down the road.
This is the second time we have stayed here, you can't beat the price for a one night stay and they have a no penalty fee if you cancel last minute. I was disappointed that it was very clean, I'm pretty sure the sheets had not been changed - which is really my only must have when staying one night - clean bed. Its a shame becasue I like everything else about this hotel - staff always nice, even the cleaning people. Great location and price - if they would just pick up their cleaning efforts I think people would leave better reviews.

I never ended up staying there...Posted Nov 30, 2013
Cons: A total fumigation and a remodel.
I never ended up staying there... I had to call around at 10pm that night because it was so disgusting. The room (which was rated non-smoking), reaked so bad of smoke that my eyes were watering. The room was dirty and DID NOT LOOK LIKE IN THE PHOTOS at all... will never stay there.

Fit the billPosted Nov 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
I was looking for a low priced motel near MSU. This is a no frills motel but it was clean and that was most important to me. It's dated but had fresh carpet, paint. I stayed one night and it served it's purpose. I wasn't expecting much and that's how it turned out. If staying more than a day or two, I recommend spending a little more and finding a nicer spot, but it works on a quick overnight. Friendly service from the front desk.

One Night StayPosted Nov 15, 2013
Pros: Close to where I needed to be, quiet
Cons: More clean
Location: Close to the MSU Pavillion, thats about it
I was only looking for a one night stay, to sleep only. So I was looking for a quiet place, comfortable and clean bed. Thats what I got so was happy with that. As far as being clean, not so much. I didn't use the bathtub but noticed it was dirty. It also doesn't have breakfast and there isn't anything close. The staff was fine, not any problems. I will stay there again because it was the cheapest place in the area and very close to where I needed to be for a quick one night stay. If your looking for a nicer place that has breakfast you want to look at the hotels in Okemos and pay a bit more.
