Lovely StaffPosted Nov 20, 2013
The hotel staff were very helpful and welcoming. The room was clean, however the beds/pillows were not the most comfortable. The hotel was some distance from the beach however the hotel provides a limited bus service and for those willing to walk there is a lovely path along the sea front. We stayed B&B, using the hotel as a base and spending most of the week exploring the island using the local bus service and guided tours. The hotel proved most adequate for our needs.

Good family hotel.Posted Sep 22, 2013
Pros: Facilities, kids club.
Cons: Food variety and enforcing the "no sun lounger reservation" policy.
Location: Costa Teguise (plenty of restaurants and shops etc) is a 20 minute walk or 4 euro taxi ride away.
We took our 2 sons (2 & 4 at the time) for a 1 week holiday in August 2013. They absolutely loved it and still talk about their adventures a month later. The swimming pools and slide are great fun (although not heated) and the kids club is first class. They hotel gets very crowded during peak summer season so be prepared for that. The food at the hotel is fine if unadventurous, although gets a bit repetitive after a few days. We stayed in a superior family room which had everything that we expected. Beware, you have to pay extra to use the room safe. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk from Costa Teguise and there is not very much in the immediate surrounding areas. A taxi trip into Costa Teguise only costs approx 4 euros though so no problem. The hotel itself has experienced its share of "wear and tear" - it is a popular and busy hotel - but I think that only adds to its charm. I have seen that a number of people have slated this hotel. Don't expect 5 star opulence and luxury. If you are happy with a pleasant, young family orientated hotel resort, then you can't go far wrong with the Barcelo Lanzarote Resort.

Relaxing holidayPosted Jul 7, 2013
Location: Out if town, but knew that when we booked
No need to worry about the negative reviews, had a great time with my husband and two children aged 8 and 5. Family superior room excellent, cleaned daily with fresh towels. Food was what you would expect from a Buffett style restaurant. Would return to this hotel.

Lovely quiet hotel for a relaxing holidayPosted Apr 15, 2013
Pros: Clean and friendly
Cons: Location and choice of food
Location: A bit too far from resort, being a good 30 minute walk to shops and restaurants.
Lovely hotel, food was fresh & healthy and plenty of it, but we became a bit tired of it during the second week. The hotel was a little out of the resort, a good 30 minute walk to shops and restaurants. However a free courtesy was provided by the hotel and local buses to Costa Teguise and Puerto del Carmen stopped outside the hotel. Overall the holiday was great, the staff and cleanliness of the hotel were excellent.

Disappointing Holiday Hotel!!!Posted Mar 12, 2013
Pros: Our child enjoyed the Kids Club
Cons: Sleeping accommodation
Location: A bit limited in terms of activities in the immediate area but easy to get around.
We were expecting a superior family room with 3 twin beds. We had 2 single beds and a rollaway under the sofa. The mattresses were awful. The rollaway was unsuitable for a small child and we had to place soft barricades all around it. The room was rather basic and was poorly cleaned - stains were left on the desk and the tiled floor all week. The room was not serviced at all on one day and it took several complaints before we had a response - very unsuitable, particularly when with a young child who needed to go to sleep. The bathroom was poorly designed and you had to be a gymnastic contortionist if you wanted to fill and empty the bath without being in it. We lost all power to our room 3 times on our first day. The tv had no english children's channels. Hotel staff, with a few exceptions, were generally unfriendly and unhelpful. The reception staff knew nothing about local amenities and we learned far more from talking to other guests. Meal times were very inflexible for families with small children - 6.30pm is too late for a child to wait to eat and there is no room service. The pool snack bar served mostly unhealthy food. There were no toilets anywhere near the children's playground - disasterous for families with small children. One plus point - our child enjoyed the kids club. Overall, the hotel was very poor value for money and very disappointing.

This hotel is not what it use to be...Posted Jan 1, 2013
I upgraded on arrival paying extra. The extra items were not placed in the room I had keep to asking to have everything added to be put in place for the full period of the stay. This was not acceptable also I had to keep asking and still not everything was added to the room that is stated for the upgraded price. With this being my 4th stay at this hotel over the years this hotel has not progressed at all. Yes nice new sunbeds at the pool which was very good. But that was the highlight of my stay. The food was poor quality and overall repetitive. The service was not the best except for one reception member of staff who was very supportive and helpful. My table was cleared twice and I had not finished my drinks or meals at the buffet restaurant. This was very embarrassing and also annoying. The Internet price has now increased to €6 for an hour for surfing, there was no other options of shorter periods for quick checks. There is now an extra charge for pool towels at an extra €2 for every time you exchange that also this was on top of a €10 deposit. You also have to pay extra for the safe deposit box each day has a charge on top of a deposit. You also have to pay extra for the tea facilities in your room. This was a disappointment so sad this use to be a wonderful hotel.
