Our Las Vegas Trip

Posted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: The location and the scenery.
Cons: Just some things in the rooms like toasters, alarm clocks and the balcony furniture.
Location: This location was very close to Hoover Dam and Mead Lake, and was also close to the strip as well.
We couldn't have picked a more perfect place to stay. We were off the strip away from the noise and lights. The room was great. We experienced a noise issue with renovations, but the staff were very accommodating and put us in another really nice room. We have already recommended this place to friends to stay when they go to Vegas.

Poorly managed in a dying development

Pros: Cheap for amount of space you get.
Cons: Housekeeping, staff attitude, TV and phones that worked, general maintenance, a view over something other than a totally dead brown golf course.
Location: Not much to do near by unless you like the suburban casinos and their movie theaters. Lake Mead is just over the hill.
The value here is that you get a two bedroom condo unit in a quiet location for $175 a night if you stay in the Luna towers across the bridge from the main building and village. However, housekeeping is spotty at best, you pay a resort fee just to cover WiFi and a hot tub that closes too early. Our two bedroom unit had like 10 clothes hangers and when we asked for more, all they could come up with was 5. Despite what the ads say the casino is closed and there are no bars or restaurants in the main Aston building any longer. TVs don't work as they should in the bedrooms, the shower doesn't have a shelf for soaps etc. and the kitchen is marginally equipped with no basic spices or oils. Did I mention only one of three phones in the unit actually works? The Village does stll have a few restaurants and a lone off brand coffee shop and a couple of gift shops. If you want to stay on Lake Las Vegas and have a resort experience, either the Hilton or the Westin are the better choices if you want real service. My car even got egged one night.

Pros: I like that you could rent dvds free of charge.
Cons: Shower pressure, updated tv equipment.
Location: Since this is in the resort community of Lake Las Vegas, you have very little choices of local amenities.
I payed extra for a room with a view of the lake. The view of the lake from our room was at the top of the trees, about the length of an average sized 2 car garage and the height of 1/2 of a average sized car. Basically, you had to strain your eyes to see it. This was not a room with a view. When I inquired about the room not having a view of the lake, the hotel staff person looked in the hotel layout of rooms and told me that this was one of the rooms with a view. Now, we've stayed at this resort/hotel in the past and have had a room with a view, and our room could see the entire lake. This experience has made me not want to stay at this hotel in the future. The water flow from the shower in our room had very low pressure and barely flowed. Also, the tv in the room had squiggly lines on the screen, so we could hardly see the show we were watching.

Nice hotel but lots of deserted shops

Posted Nov 30, 2013
Pros: The 2 bedroom 2 bath room was clean and spacious. Underground parking was nice. Away from the craziness of the strip.
Cons: Increase hours at the pool area, ease up on the alcohol rules, fix the cable issues and add a soap dish to the shower.
Location: Most shops around the hotel were closed - maybe they reopen with warm weather . 20 minutes to the strip, which was perfect for us, with teenagers
The room was nice, but the hot tub closed at 5:00, and alcohol wasn't allowed in the pool area - not even in a plastic cup. The casino was closed and most of the shops and restaurants were too, so don't go there expecting a fun place to hang out, like we were. There were only 2 negatives about the room - no soap holder in the shower, so you had to set shampoo and soup outside on the tub, and the tv in the bedroom had to have the same channel on as the one in the main room. No TV in the 2nd bedroom either.

Room was ok. The whole resort facility was short of guests. You had pay five dollars to print the boarding pass.

Aston MonteLago

Posted Nov 20, 2013
When I got to my room which was not on the lake there was a roach crawling up the wall and no cable box for television! Needless to say they switched me to another room. There is also no where in the hotel to eat. The restaurants in the plaza are not all open until late in the afternoon, so making a drive into Vegas for food was a nuisance. I would not stay here again.
