So. Cal, Forget the Strip, stay Downtown!!

Posted May 22, 2015
Pros: Quiet hallways, no drunks coming up late nights, respectable patrons.
Location: Walking distance to Fremont St. Free parking. ABC store close (If you've been to Hawaii, you KNOW).
Priced like the "old days" when rooms and food was affordable. Bathroom accomodations have safety handles for shower/bath comfort.

Nice Hawaiian hotel

Posted May 19, 2015
Pros: The big comfortable bed and pillows, having a refrigerator in our room, the eateries on site, the Hawaiian Island atmosphere
Cons: If there were microwave ovens in the rooms, better selection of television channels(possibly one movie channel- HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc.),
Location: Great location, on Fremont street, free shuttle to Sam's Town, which from there will take you to Harrah's on the strip.
I didn't realize this hotel is the "go to" hotel for visitors from Hawaii, awesome. They have three different Hawaiian eateries, and a new restaurant called the Noodle House where they serve asian style noodle dishes. I highly recommend all the eateries at the hotel. Our room wasn't too bad, the only negatives were 1. I thought there was a microwave oven in the room, there was not, but they do provide refrigerators, and 2. the bathroom obviously wasn't cleaned very well from the visitor before. We found a dry, used washcloth hanging from the shower curtain, and hair on the floor, and 3. only a few, local stations on the t.v. Minor negatives, we stayed on the 11th(top) floor, which I thought was great. And with the hotel full of Hawaiians, it felt a little like being on the Islands, awesome!!! The bed was comfortable, and loved the pillows. I would recommend this hotel, and would likely stay here again. As an added bonus, the local rodeo "Helldorado Days" was going on, we could see the rodeo grounds from our hotel room window, ye haw!

Wrong room

Posted Apr 27, 2015
Pros: I must say the slot machines were the best things about this hotel.
Cons: Fix the plumbing in room 1016.
I made reservations for a non smoking room 2 months in advance, when I got there I could tell that the room was a smoking room. I immediately called the front desk and they said that they could change the room but it would be at noon time the next day. I had to suffer through the smell of smoke all night. The bathtub also was draining slowly and there was hairs in the sink that did not belong to me. The next morning I went down and the front desk lady told me that my room was ready I moved rooms and it was a much better room. I would rate this hotel high if they gave me some kind of discount or a complimentary dinner or something but nothing was done not even a sorry so on a scale of 1 to 10 I would have to rate them a .001 my itinerary states that my room is guaranteed on that day, that was a lie, Now I know better to stay at the Golden Nugget the next time.

Pros: Hotel has a refrigerator and a safe in the room. Access to highways are good.
Cons: Addition of a little coffee maker and coffee.
Location: good location to other casinos.
had a very difficult time getting front desk. either too long waiting or person answering the phone places you on hold for over a minute or two.

Reserved non-smoking - given smoking room.

Posted Apr 23, 2015
Cons: Assign smoking room as reserved.
Reserved a non-smoking room. Allergic to smoke. Was given a smoking room and told non-smoking room was not available. Hotel clerk said we did not reserve a non-smoking room. It was on our confirmation as non-smoking requested. Made sleeping very uncomfortable with smell of smoke in room and smok coming down hall from other rooms.

Pros: Top choice of Kahuku HS Class of 1958. Arrangements were coordinated by a class member who is a frequent guest.
Cons: Maybe a chalk board in the lobby where visiting groups may choose to sign in. (e.g., Kahuku HS Class of 1958 reunion, April 14-17, 2015.)
Location: Close to Fremont experience. Not convenient to top shows on the Strip. Hotel shuttle that makes scheduled trips to and from the Strip would be nice!
Parking and accommodations were convenient. Getting together with classmates was easily facilitated. On the 3rd night, I had a bad case of food poisoning.

close to fremont street

Posted Apr 21, 2015
Hotel was clean and rooms were nice. Halls were quiet, didn't notice when people were coming and going. It was a short walk to Fremont Street. I would recommend to others.
