El Cortez

Posted Oct 21, 2014
Pros: It was in the location I needed, but nothing else
Cons: everything - ventilation, cleanliness,
Location: Freemont Street Experience
The hotel was overbooked and I was downgraded to a "vintage" room rather than the "Pavilion" room I paid for. No compensation or upgrade offered. The room was on the 2nd floor, just above the playing floor rather than in the pavilion tower. The room was overpoweringly smoky from the fumes working their way up from the playing floor even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking room . Vintage means that the carpet and paint are 10 years old and a tube TV with missing and moldy caulking in the bathroom. I've stayed in nicer Motel 6's for 20% of the price I paid for this room

Good value hotel!

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Pros: Value
Cons: Check in process.
Location: This hotel is located in downtown. It is a 5-minute walk to the Fremont experience, which is a unique type of entertainment...street shows, shops, etc.
The price on weekday stay was excellent. I stayed at the tower rooms, and it was nice, clean and comfortable. I've stayed at their vintage room in the past, and it was old. For a few extra dollars, book the tower rooms, and it will be a nicer and much comfortable stay. This hotel can certainly improve their check in process and customer service. Overall, this hotel stay is satisfactory.

Very Pleasantly Suprised

Posted Oct 19, 2014
Pros: Large clean room, great rates, and friendly staff.
Cons: Shower didn't drain very fast. Seems to be a very common problem with Vegas hotel rooms on the higher floors.
We were somewhat apprehensive about staying at the EL Cortez as it is a very old hotel. Our concerns were put aside after the hassle free check in, and seeing our very nice Tower room. Huge, comfortable beds, nice little sittting area, as well as all the normal amenities. More like a mini suite. I have stayed at pricer hotels with a lot less. I will definatly stay there on my next visit to Vegas.

Pros: The price is right. The café was excellent. Not a place if you are looking for a fancy place, but slot machines for everyones budget.
Cons: Hotel bathrooms could be improved. Bed pillows were a little lumpy.
Played a lot of penny machines, and ate many good meals. A fun place to visit.

Some rooms are NOT at the level of other rooms.

Posted Oct 17, 2014
Pros: Convenient.
Cons: Rooms should be more "similar" if within same price level.
Location: Fremont Street!
Bathroom shower had poor water flow. Insufficient number of electrical outlets in the last room that I paid for.

Pros: close to the event we were going to
Cons: a little bit better customer service
room wasn't ready on time, I understand that happens sometimes but at least offer a drink ticket while we wait, the iron board was broken, the room wasn't that clean
