Nice enough

Stay was fine. But bathroom had some mold & was very dated (old). Otherwise rest was ok. Loved being close to Fremont St.; better than staying right on it. Noise was duable :-)

Cool retro vibe :)

Posted Oct 26, 2014
Pros: Location. Easy to walk to Fremont and the bus stop to get to the strip. Hotel was clean, everybody was friendly.
Cons: Smelled funny. Stale cig smoke in the casino and an odd perfumey smell. Made me sneeze so we didn't gamble a lot.
Location: Fremont, Mob Museum, bus stop. Slotzilla to zipline.Bars, restaurants.Walgreens was close. Felt safe walking around. Security was always around.
Perfect location for the Fremont experience. Café Cortez was a great place to eat. Subway was in the hotel lobby so you could eat pretty inexpensive. We just enjoyed walking around people watching. Found little shops in the neighborhood not just the Fremont shops.

Good Value

Posted Oct 24, 2014
Pros: Price, S[ace Location
Cons: Sometimes rooms were not made up until late in afternoon unless you called Housekeeping
Inexpensive and a good bargain Sunday- Thursday. Located very close to Fremont Street with easy transportation to "The Strip". Room was large, and comfortable. Long lines during check in.

The hotel is small but clean. Location was great.

Check in was easy. The location was great - within walking distance of Fremont Street which was just what we were looking for. Hotel very clean. The only thing I found disappointing was the fact that the desk people couldn't really answer any of the questions we had about the activities in the area.

Outdated hotel, rude reception

Posted Oct 24, 2014
I stayed a couple of nights here, And I was greeted by a security guard working at the check in desk, very rude. Do not stay in the vintage rooms, they are very outdated, my AC broke down. Managment was rude and did not care, like ohh well. I was transferred To a better room, it was ok. There is a lot of history here at the hotel however they need to improve customer service and upgrade equipment, you get what you pay for!

Cabana Suites Top Notch

Posted Oct 23, 2014
Pros: The room and the staff are at the top of the list for me.
Cons: The interior of the casino could be upgraded, but that does add to part of the charm of the El Cortez.
Location: The Fremont Street Experience IS an Experience. It is unlike the Strip, much more to see, do and be a part of. The free music stages were a plus.
While there are parts of downtown Las Vegas that are a little run down, and Freemont Street is an experience also, my stay at the El Cortez was excellent. The staff of the hotel from the front desk to the valet attendants were super friendly and helpful. I was fortunate enough to be upgraded to a Suite in the Cabana Suites part of the El Cortez. The room was nothing but top notch. There is security at the front door, as well as a front desk that greets you when you come in. The room was nothing like I image. Comfortably attired, large and spacious, well appointed, large bathroom with walk in/glassed enclosed shower, everything about this room was top notch. Of course I have not stayed in a penthouse sweet so I have no comparison, but as far as regular rooms in Las Vegas....it is at the top of my list. When I go back next time, it will be my first choice as a place to stay.

Not much service

Posted Oct 21, 2014
Pros: Large airy room convenient to all of the downtown attractions. Free parking without having to get a validation was also a plus.
I stayed three nights at the hotel and as far as I could tell, housekeeping did not visit my room at all while I was there. Since there was only me, there was plenty of towels and I didn't expect them to change the sheets although I would like to have seen them make up the bed. I also ran out of bottled water but I don't have any problems with tap water. If more than one person had been using the room, it would probably have run out of soap and other amenities.
