hairs in room's chair

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Cons: room cleaniness
besides from charging EVERYTHING but the use of the bed, I saw long hairs in the room's chair, as if the previus guest combed his/her hair and there was no cleaning.

Violated!

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Otherwise I was very happy with the hotel in every way. But if you don't feel safe nothing else really matters.
I had gone to bed before my husband. AT 1 AM I heard him come in but IT WASN'T HIM!!!! The Golden Nugget had checked us out and rerented our room! Luckily the man who came in my room left promptly. This was a very scary situation for me. They gave us a discount but I was not satisfied.

Carson tower....long walk

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Fremont street experience!
Cons: Free coffee!!!
Location: Fremont street and the access to 30 or more casinos within 10/15 minute walk. Best place to stay in Vegas!
The rooms were nice, clean and spacious. However it was a really long walk to casino and Fremont street. Once we left in the morning, we didn't want to walk back until we were done for the day. The coffee charge was expensive so we went to Walgreens down the street and bought K cups for our use. $10 for 12 which reasonable, the tables were tight so our group spent a lot of time at other casinos along Fremont which were more giving. The Plaza is a great hotel to spend time in and the tables were loose. Overall Excellent trip! Would stay there again bait in a tower that is closer to Fremont....that's were the excitement and the action is. Not for children. Drinking, smoking and partying is the ideal! Don't complain if your not into that sort of thing. The pool was nice. The Claim Jumper inside the Nugget was excellent and reasonable priced. LOVED OUR STAY AND CANT WAIT TO COME BACK!

First time staying downtown.

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: It's location, friendly atmosphere, and good restaurants.
Cons: We were given a room right next to the elevator, which was very noisy all night long. We also had a view from our room of a WALL.
Location: There is lots to do near by and all within a short walk. Many casinos and vendors, etc. Light show at night. Fun!
After about 15 trips to Vegas, this is the first time I have stayed downtown. I will do it again, definitely! I loved staying in the Gold Tower, close to the casino, but I will just request a different room farther from the elevator.

Old and rundown

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Renovating at the time of my stay. Smoking tower is a really long way from the casino. Pool area was closed and so were other parts of the casino. The view from my room was of a trash filled alley and the side if a building. I ended up leaving after one night to go stay somewhere else

Golden Nugget disappointing

Posted Jan 26, 2015
I stayed recently at the Golden Nugget in Downtown Las Vegas. I had stayed several years ago and enjoyed my stay, however this time there were enough irritations that I probably won't go back. The room was not horrible, but at the price you expect a pretty nice room. The whole place smells of cigarette smoke. I stayed 2 nights for business and had 3 meals. The worst meal was at their restaurant "The Grotto." With the look of the place and the prices they were charging, I expected at least a medium quality meal. I was wrong. I ordered one of their specialties and it was just so lame. I also had dinner at their coffee shop after arriving late the first night, service was really slow and the food was again pricey and not good at all. I had a pretty good breakfast at their buffet and thought it was not a bad deal. It is also really irritating to be charged for this and that, expensive internet access and "downtown fees." Oh, and even though they did not say anything when making the reservation, the pool was closed for remodeling. Las Vegas in general seems to have the attitude that they can do what they want and people will still show up.
