Carson = smoky :(

Posted Mar 26, 2015
Pros: I liked the restaurant selection, the perfect location, the pool setup, and the friendly staff.
Cons: More sitting area in the sports book; faster elevators in the Carson tower; ensure that non-smoking floors don't smell smoky. :(
Location: Fremont Street is right outside and is completely awesome for wandering around, free entertainment and cheap shopping/drinks/gambling.
After 2 days on the strip, I wanted to relocate to downtown, and the Nugget was the obvious standby choice. Although I didn't partake, the pool area looked AMAZING - perfect setup for families, complete with the enclosed waterslide through the shark tank, and an abundance of lounge chairs. I also loved how there were a few table games poolside. Ate at the Grotto restaurant, at the bar, and loved everything about my experience. My Carson-tower room, however, was smoky even though it was on a non-smoking floor. I regret my decision to not ask for a different room. The floor itself seemed not smoky, but upon opening the door to the room, there was an inescapable embedded stale-smoke smell that probably could be remedied by replacing the carpet. Other than the smokiness, for the price, it was a nicely appointed space with a comfy bed. Everyone at the hotel was extremely helpful and pleasant. I was impressed. The casino is smaller than I remember it, but they do have single-deck blackjack and a reasonable range of table games/slots at varying price points. This seems like the place you could park yourself and not leave the building for a few days, but given that Fremont Street is right outside, it would be silly not to at least wander around a bit.

Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Nice pool area.

Posted Mar 25, 2015
Pros: Pool area and variety of restaurants.
Cons: Sportsbook area. Need newer slot machines.
Location: Not on the main strip. You need to hop a shuttle or taxi to get there. Nice hotel for family.
This was our first experience at the Golden Nugget. We normally stay at the MGM. We found the accomodations to be what we had expected. Comparable to the MGM. The sportsbook was not nearly as nice as the MGM. The pool area was super nice and close. Unlike the MGM. The Golden Nugget had a much nicer variety of restaurants. Prices were very reasonable. Overall a really nice place to stay, We were able to get everything we needed at or close to the hotel.

40th Bday celebration

I enjoyed staying at the Nugget, however I was a bit disappointed the rooms did not have refrigerators and they charge for coffee. We stayed at Treasure Island two years ago and they offer in room refrigerators and coffee. I would highly recommend upgrading your room. Other than that the pool was great, the staff was great and it was a wonderful time!

Spacious room but not the cleanest

Posted Mar 25, 2015
Pros: Large rooms, great location
Cons: Cleaner rooms & shorter check in time More beds around pool Should be told that resort fee includes water in room
Location: Gold Diggerz Oscars Hugo's Cellar Freemont Street Commonwealth
Rush Tower rooms are very spacious, well designed and nicely decorated. Check in was over 30 minutes wait so prepare yourself for the wait! The rooms could have been cleaner, they were very dusty. Bathroom was large, great bath and powerful shower head.
