Easy check in at North tower...be prepared for resort fee and wifi in common area not your room

Quiet part of stripPosted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: The area.
Location: You can do whatever Vegas has to offer!
Chose the Luxor for the weekend as we were meeting some pals flying in from UK for their vacation and wanted to be near where they were staying (Mandalay), the Luxor was fine for our weekend, I can't comment on the services it has to offer as we didn't use them but I can say it was difficult to get a drink while at the tables/machines in the first instance however once the server served you the first time they would keep coming back.

Our Luxor experiencePosted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: The person who kept our room clean and neat did a very good job. The check out procedure was very easy to use.
Cons: The restaurants could have lower prices all of them are not 4 and 5 star places to eat.
Before we were able to check into the hotel MGM people were trying to get us to go to a time share presentation by using cheeper show ticket prices, on the second day one of these people told us to use the thumbs up sign to these sales people and they would not give us the sales pitch. 3 rooms down from ours a room service tray sat in the hall for 36 hours before being picked up.The elevators that serviced the floors from 2 up to the top are very shakey. The upper floors are not for those who have virtigo or who are afraid of heights. My wife and I did notice the same clean fragrance in the MGM group of hotels that we went into (Luxor, Mandalay Bay, NewYork NewYork, and the MGM Grand) must have got a good price on it.

Put us in wrong room, smelled of smoke,Posted Apr 15, 2014
Exhausted from travelling 17 hrs, booked room 3 months in advance - king non smoking - guaranteed for late check in - so said our booking through Luxor and Expedia. Got to our room and it was saturated with smoke and 2 queens. They didn't even notify us of the change at the desk. Called the desk and said they couldn't change us until the next day. Our clothes for the weddings we had to go to smelled of smoke the rest of the week. Poor customer service- they should have comped our stay. We were really looking forward to our first time away since our daughter was born nearly 2 years ago. What a disappointment.

Pros: the room size.....
Cons: the hotel looks extremely old compared to other hotels on the strip. the music at the pool (by the DJ) is way too loud and inappropriate...
In general, the ad hoc costs of going on vacation are rising to ridiculous amounts. Paying now to be able to check in when arriving at the hotel, with rooms available is poor.

Great value for money.Posted Apr 15, 2014
I was at The Luxor for 4 nights on April 5th. The hotel is very large and spacious and the staff treated me wonderfully. They were extremely helpful and friendly and I was always met by a smile. The Tower suites are upgraded but I chose the Pyramid suite. The wallpaper in the bathroom may be tired but the room was spotless and the bed unbelievably comfortable which is what matters the most. I found the room quite lovely. The hotel in general has many shops to choose from and a food court as well as general restaurants. I loved the 24 hour deli close to my elevators which was very handy and also serves a 24 hour breakfast for an option. The Titanic Exhibit is currently at The Luxor which is fantastic. As well as over 200 artifacts, recreations of the first class and third class suites, and the grand staircase which you can have your picture taken on, there is also a large piece of the hull which was recovered in the sand which still has porthole windows in it. Well worth seeing for Titanic buffs. There is a free monorail system which will take you to Mandalay Bay and Excaliber from The Luxor. The pool area is fabulous and most impressive with various pools to choose from. So for value for money I highly recommend The Luxor. You can't go wrong.

Had the best view of the airport!Posted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: Their breakfast at their restaurant was the best we've ever had! I loved loved the toast! Even though they were busy busy, the service was quick and a
Cons: more elevators.
Location: the "strip" is just outside in front of the hotel, you can walk or ride the monorail.
We checked in without any problems. The desk person accommodated us to a view of the airport request... and we loved it! We sat there for hours just enjoying the busy airport. Not sure how often they clean the windows though. The only down side of our room was, they only have 1 elevator at two corners. We had to walk quite a ways to get to our room, with our luggage. My husband has limited mobility, so it made it harder for him. Otherwise we enjoyed a brief stay.
