I'd stay anywhere but here again

Posted Nov 26, 2014
Pros: The rooms were quiet and bedding comfortable.
Cons: Clean the hotel and remember guests are people, not an income or a number.
The room was dirty upon arrival and never improved in the 7 days there. Customer service wasn't a priority. The room was studio-like with no separation of toilet, nor was there an exhaust fan in the restroom area.

Starting to show its age

Posted Nov 26, 2014
Pros: Location, comfort, friendly staff.
Cons: Cleanliness, decor; prices in the hotel shops and restaurants.
Location: Great location at the south of the Strip.
Stayed here on a friend's recommendation with a view to playing poker. My stay was comfortable enough, however the hotel was built over 20 years ago and it's starting to look/feel a bit tired, especially in comparison with some of its newer competitors. My room was fine, although I found a hair in my bathtub on the first night and then I didn't receive maid service for 2 days. Also very few extras like slippers, robe, which you'd expect to find in a hotel of this calibre. In terms of the casino and facilities, you do have 'everything under one roof' - shops, restaurants etc - although you pay a premium for these (even things like bottled water are overpriced). In future, I would not return to MGM Grand, but rather save money by staying in a non-casino hotel/apartments, or pay the extra for somewhere like Aria or Mandarin Oriental if looking for a luxury experience.

GREAT LOCATION

Posted Nov 26, 2014
Pros: LOTS GOING ON IN THE HOTEL
Cons: PRICES OF DRINKS IF YOU WANT ONE BEFORE GAMBLING, AFTER ALL BOOZE IS SO CHEAP IN THE USA
Location: GREAT LOCATION AND A MONRAIL TO TAKE YOU TO LOTS PLACES ON THE STRIP
CARPETS IN HALLWAYS ARE DIRTY AND NEED CLEANED.....PRICES IN THE BARS ARE ABSURD....BETTER TO STICK A DOLLAR IN A SLOT AND DRINK FOR THE TIP YOU GIVE THE SERVER. THEY WAT YOUR EVERY CENT...

I was so impressed with the staff.

Posted Nov 25, 2014
Pros: I liked the staff and the room was large and comfortable.
Cons: The air was so full of smoke that I have difficulty breathing at times...better filtering of air would encourage me to book again with MGM.
Location: Location was excellent!
Had an overall good experience with the exception of the air quality.

Vegas weekend stay

Posted Nov 25, 2014
Room was very nice though housekeeping was slow to clean the rooms at later times in the day. Casino was clean and most staff were very pleasant, but waitresses were not as frequent to visit the gamblers as the supervisors explained to us (make rounds every 15 minutes, but more often than not, they would come by every 30-40 minutes even when not a busy time or we would have to chase them or get their attention) Hidden "amenities" fee for wi-fi, gym, pool (even if not used) only described at checkout and is far too expensive (and only became a mandatory charge roughly 3-4 years ago)
