reservation not lived up to

Location: Las Vegas has everything, good and bad (the Plaza Hotel and Casino
I reserved a non smoking room as I have lung problems. When I arrived I was told there were no more non smoking rooms I explained my issues and was told they could upgrade me to a non smoking room, great, until he told me it would cost an additional rate of 80.00 dollars a night. I said forget it and since it was after mid night, the room was so bad I slept in my truck. In the morning I went up to the smelly room to wash and found that they didn't even supply new shampoo and soap bottle as they were all open and half used I went a got ahold of the manager, told my story and she moved me to the non smoking tower and promised to send up a coffee maker and a portable refrigerator for my medication, will the coffee maker found its way to my room but the refrigerator never did, even after stopping by the desk and reminded the manager. The night of check in I was also told since I went through Expedia he could do nothing and I should call Expedia for help , If i ever use Expedia again will depend on their reply to this but I can tell you that it was the first and last time for the that I will stay at the Plaza in Las Vegas. I sure hope someone at Expedia and at the Plaza, Las Vegas takes note of this. J.

Good location was the plus. There is not a refrigerator for drinks or just in case you had leftovers. Ice machine was broke on out floor. There is one mirror that is useless if you are short like me. Very hard to get ready when putting in makeup doing your hair etc. the water was turned off two days in a row. We were here on business and could not shower two mornings before we left. Staff was very unreliable if you called for any reason. They never answered the phone. Hotel staff was not friendly. Casino staff was very helpful. Cocktail servers were slow and rude. Bartenders were nice.

Cons: no test on emergency lites 5 xs a day. clean elevators more frequently

Our check in was fast and friendly had no problems with room. Roght on the downtown strip. Would stay here again.

Fremont Experience

If you love Fremont street and plan to party hard, this is the hotel for you. Our room was on the 5th floor with a great view down Fremont street. It seemed great, until I tried to go to sleep.... The bands playing on Fremont street were so loud in our room I could have sang along. Also, the beds were extremely hard. The rooms are nicely remodeled though. Not bad for a budget hotel. I would suggest at least bring ear plugs and something to use as a pillow. They were so thick, it totally gave me a headache. The Hash House Restaurant was really good on the main floor, and excellent service.

Great rooms

One if the nicest rooms I have stayed in for the price. Very clean and quiet and large. I recommend staying in the south tower as the north tower overlooks Fremont street which can be very noisy. Not the nicest casino but I was there for work, not to gamble. The Pop Up pizza place was very good. So was the Hash House- portions too big to finish and tasty.

We arrived late and our none smoking room request was taken so we were forced to take a smoking room. The front desk was kind and said we could change next day. The tv didn't work properly but because we were always out it didn't matter.

Pros: Convenient to Smith Center
Cons: Need more people at registration desk. Too long a wait.
Location: We love the downtown, so location was great.
Ate at Ocars. It was wonderful. Shuttle ride to Smith Center was really convenient and driver was very personable. Bathroom sink was not draining, but only had to put up with it for one night. If we planned to stay longer I would have insisted on a new room.

I was pleasantly surprised by The Plaza. During 2 major events their rates were less than other Las Vegas area hotels but the room was a good size and in excellent condition. Newer carpets, furnishings and comfortable beds & pillow made my stay that much more enjoyable. It is at the fun end of The Fremont Street Experience with a number of good restaurants withing walking distance. Parking is free. The staff was professional and courteous. I'll stay there again.
