“Lovely Hotel”
Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. Very historic and the rooms were very nice. The free breakfast was delicious.....will definitely stay again when I'm in the Santa Fe area
“the other Las Vegas”
lovely middle american town with a typical drugstore at the corner selling coke and icecream. The Victorian Hotel was a bit dusty, but full of fashion. Nice bar. Didn't try the restaurant. It could use a more decent smoker's area.
“Good value historic hotel”
Huge room with view of town plaza, nicely appointed , comfy bed, microwave & fridge. Free cooked to order breakfast big plus!
“Plaza Hotel, Las Vegas NM”
Outstanding Hotel and service, on the Plaza in Las Vegas NM, reasonable rates, and a restaurant with above average food.
“love the feel of it, old but kept up very well”
like the oldness of it, the old building, the stairs, loved it, kept up very well & definitely would stay there again
“cute, not comfortable”
Quaint little hotel with great staff service and great breakfast. Price was right too....but. Rooms were pretty awful, bed so uncomfortable I had a back ache in AM. The curtains in our rooms were falling apart. The linens and beds need a big upgrade. The lighting in the rooms is dim also even with bedside lamps. I know they are trying to keep the old west charm, but guests now want comfort and pampering, not like the old west days when all you needed was a bed and a basin.
“Nice and old school”
Very nice staff. The continental breakfast was great. Is was very cozy. The view was great. I would defiantly go back.
“A break from the chain motel experience.”
This is an interesting place to stay because of the hotel's history. I first stayed here about fifteen years ago and they place has been well maintained. I wouldn't come here just to stay in the hotel, but if you are traveling through and want a break from the chains it can be a good choice. The hotel and Landmark Grill staff were very friendly and pleasant. The air conditioning didn't work as well as it might have, but it was unusually hot. Also, it was Saturday night and kids with loud cars made a little racket in the street below.
“Grand stay at The Plaza in the original Las Vegas”
We side-tripped to Las Vegas New Mexico after stops in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. It was the website of the historic Plaza hotel that convinced us to make to take the ride. We arrived too early - our fault. But the desk worked feverishly to get our room ready. It was a jammed day for them because a motorcycle festival was winding down. Totally booked. So we walked around the park right out front. Once we could check in, everything was excellent from the reception by the folks fine tuning our room, to the gentleman at the front desk. Great staff. The hotel has a decent restaurant and a rustic lounge area. A nice breakfast is included at the restaurant (just show your room key which is a REAL key, not a card) Like "The Palace" in silver city, "The Plaza" is an historic property that has no large parking lot. But it's not needed. There's parking in the back for a few cars. Lots of spaces out front and around the park itself. It has a "downtown" commercial area tha we could not experience since it was Sunday. it also has historic buildings - such as a former "Harvey" house building that is ripe for some big investor to renovate, (Harvey house museum is in Belen, new mexico) and a Rough Riders museum . Las Vegas is not a huge tourist town yet. But hopefully, it will soon match the lure of the Plaza as a place to go. The Plaza is perfect for couples and families, as a "home base" while exploring the area which includes some impressive natural parkland and historic sites.
“A Taste of the Old Southwest”
This historic hotel maintains the looks of a 1800's western saloon and hotel, with modern conveniences of course. Each room is decorated with antique furniture and period light fixtures, wall coverings, and carpet. The restaurant serves traditional Soutwestern cuisine as well as french dishes and steaks. We dined here for dinner and breakfast during our stay, and both meals were adequate and of course convenient. The party starts in the old saloon around 7, complete with the type of bar you see in all the westerns. This hotel draws a good crowd of locals to both the saloon and the restaurant. The bed was decorated with period specific quilts, but the mattress was comfortable and modern. The only drawback that could be experienced is having no control over the A/C. The room is cooled by central air and you have no thermostat for that. There is a radiator for heat, and there is a thermostat for that. Fortunately on the night we stayed the outdoor temp was just right to throw open the screened windows and let through a cool refreshing breeze. It was also a great experience to wake up to the fresh smell of pine and cedar and the view of the mountains through the lace curtains. We had a great time here.
