Long time customer changing hotels
Posted Jan 12, 2013
We have stayed at the Rio on many occasions. This trip will be our last. We have liked the Rio because of the entertainment, rooms, gaming, and most importantly, they allow dogs. The cost of the pets about doubles the cost of the room. We made the reservation for this trip a week before our stay. Arriving at the hotel at 3:00 after a drive from SLC, it was hot outside and the dogs needed to get out of the car. But, our room wasn't ready. They told us to come back in an hour and the room would be cleaned. We parked and took the dogs inside the Casino to be cool. We noted other people with their pets, waiting for a room. After an hour, we went to the desk and were given a key to the room. We arrived at the room at about 4:10 to find that the room was not cleaned at all. It took us another 45 minutes to get someone to clean the room so that we could get in. This was not my idea of relaxing.

Best property West of The Strip
Posted Jan 9, 2013
Great property to stay at if you want a slightly different pace compared to The Strip. The shuttle service to The Strip is fantastic. I stayed in the basic room, but it was still very spacious and suited my needs. Staff are very courteous. Would stay here again and I'd highly recommend.

Resort fee is too high $20
Posted Jan 8, 2013
Pros: Lots of poker options during the WSOP
Cons: Resort fee
Location: Location is isolate but it has cool pool.
Only complaint is the $20 resort fee. Not any water to your room, not a newspaper (mentioning only because other hotels give you those things and their resort fee is only $10), there weren't any Masquerade shows either. Things have changed at the Rio and $20 is too high.

Great hotel for friends
Posted Jan 7, 2013
Pros: Nice and big. Has a little bit of everything.
Cons: Waiting in line to check in.
Location: Nice because it was a little bit off the strip.
Hotel was great but they could of had more employees working the front desk and registration area. We showed up and couldn't check in till 4 pm but when it came time to check out they wanted us out by 11 am. Also had to wait in line for 30 minutes just to check in after long day of traveling to get there.

Bang for your buck
Posted Jan 4, 2013
Pros: The buffet
Cons: I lost money at the roulette table.
The room was very large, comfortable, and clean. The view wasn't that great, but I didn't really care since I planned on spending most my time on the strip. Great place to stay for reasonable price.

Rotting sewer bathroom smell--Yuck
Posted Jan 3, 2013
Pros: While gambling the servers came by often for drinks.
Cons: Bathroom in room smelled like raw sewage and air conditioner in room didn't work.
Location: Rio was off the strip and off the radar for anything fun.
Don't ever to this hotel on a holiday weekend. I had booked this hotel 6 months out and when we got there they didn't have the 2 queen beds as requested. We got a king bed and a pull out couch. Then they moved us (after requesting several times!!) to another room with 2 queen beds. The bathroom smelt like sewer and made the entire room stink like something was rotting. And the air conditioner didn't work and after calling the front desk a technician came up to the room to "fix" it. After he left the air conditioner STILL didn't work. They said there was nothing they could do. Besides all this, it seems like the clientele has changed and not for the better!! And that's all I am going to say about that. Very disappointed and will not stay here again.
