Excellent alternative to the Vegas strip...

Great hotel with excellent facilities. About the only issue we had was with the service in the balcony area. It was extremely slow and we finally gave up and went to a different restaurant.

Economy hit hard

Pros: The view
We visited this hotel 4 years ago and had expected a nice weekend of strolling through the Italian themed cobble streets, etc. Most shops were closed and vacant. We were the only customers at the restaurant we ate at. It is 40 minutes away from the strip so although we had not planned on traveling to the strip more than once, we went all three days, due to the lack of things to do at Lake Las Vegas. It had also rained a few days prior to our arrival so even the lake was closed due to treating the water. The hotel and staff were great, although there was mold around the tub, which we pointed out at check out. They said they are renovating the rooms, but a good cleaning would have taken care of that problem.

Beautiful, but going to try the Hilton next time.

The beds were so hard!!!! The comforters and pillows were great though. Pools close way too early. Kids pool closed at 6 and adults pool closed at 8. I chose Westin due to the free kayaking they offer. The person that told me about it from the resort told me that since my kids are 6 and 7, one could sit with each parent. Well, we rushed down there Sunday (since they were closed all the other days due to the storm) and was first in line just to find out my kids couldn't go, because they no longer carry 2 seat kayaks. Then to go alone you must be 14. My kids are tiny and aren't going alone anyway. My husband and daughter sat in one and had more than enough room. Just disappointed I guess. The grounds are beautiful, but I think I'll try somewhere else that has water activities for my entire family and a pool that stays open past 6pm.

Eating and drinking is expensive so plan accordingly, but facility and rooms are fabulous.

Stunning with shortcomings

Every inch of this place is beautiful. Breathtaking views. Neat activities. Professional staff. However, the fact that they close and rent out parts of resort are a deal breaker. We were unable to use the only hot tub and one if the pools. No airport shuttle and limited vegas strip shuttle proved to be inconvenient and costly. There were also no reasonably priced breakfasts or lunches for families. Fix these issues and this place would be a must see for anyone visiting Nevada.

Nice Pool

The pool was the highlight. Great music and fun for all ages. The room was a little dissapointing. I just envisioned more from a junior suite. We were also charged a gratuity to our room that we did not authorize, the front desk took it off pending a look into it, wasn't too happy about that. Also parking lot very poorly lit. Surrounding area pretty much a ghost town.

Terrible experience

Hotel was dirty, our room was filthy & pool lounge tables & chairs we're horrible. Staff was unprofessional to say the least!
