We had a good stay. Steak house was very good; good service and good food. Room was clean; couldn't hear any thing from the rooms next to ours. Gambling was good; Roulette and Craps table were all good.

"Best Hotel on Freemont Street!!!"
I prefer to stay in Old Vegas, Freemont Street, rather than the strip. The Golden Nugget is the best Hotel on the street. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The room are clean and fresh, with plenty of room. I've eaten in almost all of the restaurants in the hotel, I have never been disappointed. The Casino is beautiful with lots of gaming activity. Will stay here every time.

Very nice place. New, inviting, hip. Not too big, and in a centrally located spot. New owners did a lot more than a new coat of paint and rearranging the casino. Top to bottom, inside and out, it was effectively a new hotel. We stayed Thursday thru Saturday nights and did our usual... drove around to places we wanted to see. Parking was easy and plentiful. The location was great because it was at the end of the 'strip' which kept the traffic down and it was a quick jump off the freeway. The casino was very clean and well staffed. There was a couple nice restaurants which had decent food at expected prices. The pool was closed, but looked nice. Piano bar was cool. Great coffee at 'Perq.' The room was nice and we booked a basic room. Not a suite, and was a little small-ish, but was comfortable and well appointed. But for the price, it was very nice. SLS is recommended for travelers that drive in Las Vegas. We commented that SLS is like the hip little brother to the Hard Rock who has style and all the girls.

"Nice surprise...close to everything"
First time staying here at The Grand. Everything was great. Room was nice and comfortable...was worried about previous reviews talking about the loud noise, but it was no trouble at all. Can't wait to go back and visit again.

We stayed at the Excalibur for 4 nights, and had a great experience. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The room was clean, nicely updated and our non-smoking room didn't have any smoke smells like some of the other hotels we've stayed in. The Camelot restaurant is nice, with excellent food and service. The spa was relaxing and a nice way to spend an afternoon. It was a little cold for the pool, but the jacuzzi was nice. Overall, we enjoyed this hotel and would stay here again.

"Free upgrade!"
I arrived late on a Monday for a business trip, and unfortunately the desk informed me that they had given away the last standard size smoking room, and were going to have to upgrade me to a larger tower room. I was glad they had a new room prepared as it was late and I was pretty tired. Room was pretty new. Much more of a room than 1 person can use, but I was very comfortable.

    Hotels

When it comes to Las Vegas hotels, the selection is vast. You’ll find all sorts of accommodations here, including resorts located on The Strip and Freemont Street. There is also a variety of lodging available in nearby areas, such as North Las Vegas, Henderson, and South of The Strip, when you want a break from the nightlife. Whether you’re looking for hotels with casinos and on-site shows or hotels with pool access and lounges, there’s a place for you.

    Transportation

Because Las Vegas has packed so many hotels and attractions along The Strip, visitors can experience many of the sites on their own two feet. While a walking tour may seem appealing, remember to stick to the crosswalks and sidewalks to avoid receiving a jaywalking ticket and holding up traffic.

Contrary to popular belief, the resorts and casinos are spread out, due to their sheer size, so a rental car can come in handy. Vacationers who want to expand their horizons beyond walking distance may want to book affordable car rentals in advance. Many of the luxury hotels feature free parking or validations, so finding a parking spot is hassle-free.

There are also numerous taxi services and buses, such as The Deuce and Citizen Area Transit (CAT), which will gladly transport visitors around town. Flag one down at a hotel because hailing one straight from the street is actually illegal in Las Vegas.

    Travel Basics

A town with the nickname “Sin City,” doesn’t receive such a reputation by turning its lights out after 9 p.m., which means the partying in Las Vegas usually continues into the early hours of morning. So if you plan on receiving a good night’s sleep while vacationing here, we suggest packing a pair of ear plugs to cancel out the noise - especially if you book one of the Vegas hotels in the middle of all the action.

As for venturing outside to the other attractions on The Strip, it’s best to create an itinerary. Though the stretch is only a little over four miles, you won’t want to back track or loop around all afternoon especially during the scorching summer months. Map out your route, pack your walking shoes, and remember to only cross at the designated cross walks.

    Weather

Although palm trees and water fountains may characterize Las Vegas, don’t be fooled; this tropical paradise is in the middle of the desert. And desert means scorching temperatures in the summer and chilly winter evenings. From June through August, Vegas usually sees temperatures soar between the 90 and 100 F, which can make walking around under the hot sun a sweaty, muggy experience. If you do plan to visit during these summer months, pack a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water to stay hydrated. Alternatively, in December through February, Vegas can experience temperatures that drop to the 30s F, so pack a jacket and brace for the wind.

The best time to visit Sin City is during the spring and fall. During these seasons, the temperatures are mild and comfortable. Both of these times are sometimes considered low season, as the crowds tend to pick up during the summer months and holidays.

Regardless of what time of year you visit the brightest place on earth, the hot entertainment is sure to warm you up while the pool parties will keep you cool. Book your Las Vegas vacation package right here with Expedia.com to kick start your Sin City getaway today.
