Hyggeligt hotel med central beliggenhed.Posted Mar 3, 2015

Sixth floor historic hotelPosted Mar 1, 2015
Pros: The hotel is located very close to many attractions in Paris. Easy access to the RER/Metro. Many restaurants and shops in the area.
Cons: Staff willingness to interact with clients.
Location: Cluny Museum is 2 blocks away. Pantheon 2 blocks away. Sorbonne 2 blocks away.
At arrival the woman checking me in seemed distracted, she never did introduce herself. During the check -in process she had a short and unpleasant conversation with a co-worker, then said she was sorry to inform me that I got 1 of 2 rooms left and it was on the sixth floor and that unfortunately the elevator only went to the fifth floor and I would have to walk the staircase. Very small and winding staircase it was too. My room had a double bed, with a well worn bedspread on it. The paint on the window sill over the bed was a bit cracked. The TV was on top of a wardrobe and had been unplugged. The view was not pleasant. There was noise during the overnight hours from people in the streets. The bathroom was tiny. I was unable to access the toilet without first being present in the bathroom and then shutting the door. There were toiletries. The shower had good water pressure but the temperature was inconsistent. There was 1 electrical outlet in the bedroom under the desk. The breakfast was served in the basement and was very adequate for me. It included; fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee or tea, pastries with jam/honey/butter, cold meats, cheese, yogurt, cereals, fresh fruit salad. Despite being in the basement it was a pleasant area. Although, I was told that I got 1 of the last rooms at this hotel, I rarely saw any other guests. This in not a smoke free hotel. It was ok but I'd stay elsewhere if there's a next time.

Oo-la-laPosted Feb 5, 2015
The Hotel Saint Jacques has character. Our room was not as large as it was lavish but with gold framed mirror, ornately trimmed ceiling, and marble mantelpiece, we felt transported to another time. The king bed was well dressed and comfortable. The shower was wonderful. The window opened out over the street so we could check the weather and enjoy watching the passersby. The hotel is well located and within walking distance to many of the sights. The concierge was courteous and helpful. I would happily stay here again.

Not on my priority listPosted Dec 3, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel is quant.. Decorated I old Parisien style but..it had no fridge or coffee/tea making facilities (probably something I should have looked into a little better) but the main thing for us is that it was not sound proof, street noise and guests taking their shoes off etc we got no sleep at all. When morning came and we were checking out first thing, the concierge offered us another room. My question is why weren't we given this to begin with.....particularly when I had made the booking months in advance?...... To say that it had just been made available is not good enough.
