Overpriced mansion-style hotelPosted Aug 29, 2012 on Hotels
Very beautiful buildings and garden though the garden and poolarea needs a loving hand. Pool area and fitness room was run-down and poorly maintained. Nice and clean room in an old mill building. General standards and service is not as expected for a 3-star hotel / guest house, for example, no air conditioning in rooms, only bed lighting at one side of the double bed, bed-making and towel change took place late in the afternoon, much of day no personal service from the front desk. Price for breakfast is 1 ½ times higher than similar hotels in the area. It lacks soul and sincere commitment from staff. I would not recommend the hotel to others.

Very French, stylish and comfortablePosted Jul 16, 2012 on Hotels
This is a very pretty hotel and the room we stayed in was roomy and comfortable. We were only there for one night but enjoyed the swimming pool and walking through the gardens. Only downside was the breakfast which was expensive for coffee, croissants and fruit. You can walk into the town on the river and there are several restaurants to enjoy.

Domaine De La Barde - perfect for castles!Posted Oct 11, 2011 on Hotels
My husband and I chose the hotel for it's proximity to the castles along the Dordogne only a short drive away. We stayed in the converted building (not the main chateau) in a very comfortable, light and airy room. The only potential drawback of the room was that we could hear traffic from the nearby main road - not disruptive for us, but don't expect complete peace. The only disappointing aspect of the hotel was that the grounds were quite run-down - we were not sure if perhaps it was because we were staying out of the main tourist season, but it gave the place a bit of a sad air. We were also delighted to find that Europe's largest freshwater aquarium was only a short walk away - a fantastic discovery that kept us entertained for the afternoon.

we could not believe how beautiful the château was, so full of history. we only stayed for one night on our way to a gite but i wish it could have been longer. when we return to France i will definitely try to get booked for the domaine . the staff were really friendly happy and helpful and the rooms were very clean
