“A Good Resort”

It is a good and clean resort with good location. No comments about the outside pools since they were closed due to the winter season.

“Beautiful setting, relaxing atmosphere”

Absolutely beautiful with tons of stuff to do! Pools (indoor and outdoor). Spa, golf, playground, volleyball; tennis courts; restaurants, bar, everything you would need! Spa was a bit pricey but good.

“Business Location-Lansdowne”

The location was great since my client was less than 1/2 mile away. If you're coming from out of town at night it can be a bit tricky to find since it's off the beaten path and pretty dark around the area. Room was comfortable and quiet and internet and parking were free. Like to see them upgrade to Flat Screen TV in the future. Golf Course view from the room was nice in the morning and wish I would of had time to play.

“Good Resort for Golf and Spa”

The hotel is a nice but limited resort primarily for golf and spa. There's a set of pools which can occupy the kids but I would have liked a few more other simple activities whether it be a putt-putt course, volleyball, jogging/fitness trail or other simple amentities. Maybe they were there and I didn't find them. Not thrilled by the resort fee. I know lots of places add that separately from the room but I'd prefer that be part of the room fee and for that alone I knock this rating down a spot since it gives such a negative flavor of abusing guests. Please the internet access in the room was good. Heard wireless wasn't available in the public areas without an extra fee. Feels rather rude to guests. I wouldn't do that to guests in my home or office. Chair in my room had a bum leg. Iron and ironing board included but what outlet should the iron be plugged in? Had to use the outlet from the bathroom. Quite a stretch. Service was good. Liked the staff having ribbons that made them very identifyable.

Area recommendations
This resort is in the middle of nowhere. Need a car if you want to go somewhere else.

“Landsdowne is a downer”

We recently stayed at the Landsdowne as part of a large wedding party. The room was just OK, except for the view of the ugly gravel roof which is just about all we saw. But I digress, we didn't come for the room. The morning after the wedding was Mother's Day. At 10:15 we tried to go to the hotel restaurant for breakfast and were turned away with, "we closed at 10, they should have told you that when you checked in. We open again at 11:00 for brunch but we are sold out". I guess we didn't come for the service. I complained to the front desk. They offered nothing. We checked out immediately. Gotta say that the public spaces at this hotel have all the charm of a convalescent home. I guess we didn't come for the decor. Why did we go there in the first place? Who knows. We won't be back.

“Good for Summer !!”

When we visited weather was still cold and rainy... So best time to visit is Summer and when weather is more warmer... Resort is excellent will try again in Summer...

“A little disappointing.”

I was disappointed with the tacked-on $20/night resort fee. I don't understand why these are not added in the original price paid to Expedia. I was told at checkout that it was in the fine print. It was a most unpleasant surprise.

“Great stay!”

“Would not stay there again”

Looks impressive from the outside. Rooms were no frills. 2 beds, a bathroom and a TV was it. Sore hips & back from the bad bed. Restaurants there were high priced. Not even a continental breakfast. On a good note, the staff was friendly.

“Little things didn't go well”

Husband and I were looking for a quick get-away. Something close to home, simple, romantic, no hassles. The time away was GREAT, but the little stuff was enough to know we wouldn't be returning. Besides the room mix-up, (not Lansdowne fault, but not handled well by front desk), we were awakened from naps by someone deliverying a bed we did not order. When we wanted to order a movie, the buttons on the remote didn't work, when we ordered our car from valet, the car had not been retrieved (even tho we waited at least 15 mins prior to heading down to pick up car), we had a whiny DOG (yes - a dog) in the room next to us. The good things - the poolside was nice, with attentive staff to bring waters, drinks. The valet ran to get our car, when he realized he didn't get our car. The valet was also very quick to greet us when we arrived. They had an outdoor movie night, and firepit w/ smores (we didn't do either, but as we walked around we saw them setting up). This is a much better resort for business, golf outings, etc. But not for romantic or quick get-aways.

Go to Blue Ridge Grill for dinner. REally good!
Dining
Great meal at Blue Ridge Grill. Get directions off internet, do not trust the hostessses with the correct directions.
