This was my second stay at this hotel and it continues to deliver. Great place, great staff, and just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the Centrum to be a quiet retreat at night. Translation - no loud college students to contend with in the wee hours of the morning. I give it top marks.

Pentahotel Leuven was a breath of fresh air after the bland corporate hotels I usually use - quirky, fun décor, very friendly staff, quiet room with a comfortable clean bed. The reception desk is also a bar, but it didn't feel like I was staying in a pub, more that they'd cleverly combined two facilities into one. Good breakfast (though expensive). Note that I stayed here during Leuven University's two-week Easter break so there were very few students around - might be louder during term-time. I'd stay here again without hesitation (and look forward to doing so).

Only stayed one night to break up a journey across 4 countries. The hotel was typical 'chain-type' - but perfectly clean and adequate. . The worst thing about it was it was opposite a Stella Artois factory (as a member of CAMRA I can't call it a brewery) - and on the night we stayed there was a bunch of rowdy/noisy school children - but the receptionist did her best to 'sort' them out.

"A Unique Hotel that I would stay at again and again..."
Pulling up to the hotel, you first notice the uniqueness and beauty of the hotel. The staff was extremely accomodating. We arrived around 11 in the morning, and the representative walked us up to our room (there is no elevator). The room wasn't ready, but we were able to store our luggage and she quickly had the cleaning staff clean up the room. The room was awesome with a comfy bed, excellent decor (exposed logs from the original lodge), and a nice bathroom. The Lodge was also equipped with free wireless Internet. The restaurant, although a little pricy, was delicious with great service (and popular with the locals). My husband and I visited eight countries and stayed in 11 hotels on this trip and the Heverlee Lodge was always on the top of our list.

The good: friendly staff, great breakfast (and a really nice breakfast room!), fantastic wifi connection, very central location, super nice building (from the outside)
The bad: the room was a disappointment - it looked very old and outdated (worse than some budget hotels), there was no airconditioning (only a fan), and it got a little warm at night; the mattress of the bed was still from the stone ages, I think - at least it felt that way; it was OK clean, but not great
The weird: I stayed on the third floor and there was this weird life-sized pirate statue, which strangely resembled a "Pirates of the Caribbean" character. I cannot even begin to imagine what they were thinking when putting him up there

Only 20 kilometers east of Brussels, this lively Flemish capital is home to the world's largest brewer group and the oldest Catholic university in existence. Architectural wonders abound, especially the ornately decorated Leuven Town Hall. For suds and students, head to Leuven’s Oude Markt. The energetic area is plentiful with pubs, restaurants, and cafes.
