Older style but looks as though they are trying to improve. Our room was freshly painted.

Expensive Joktel

Posted Aug 22, 2013
Pros: Close location to WVA state fair grounds
Cons: Total overhaul of the plumbing system, fresher linens, better beds, etc.
Location: Due to uncomfortable room conditions did not have opportunity to visit surrounding location
This place was a joke, the towels and wash clothes were stained. The room continuously smelled of sewage, I had to sleep or attempt to sleep with a can of air freshener. The commode would not flush properly causing us to seek rest room accommodations elsewhere. We are stuck out of town, no other rooms were available and had no choice to leave this place a day early and lose the large amount of money we had paid for the room. I would not stay there again nor would I recommended it.

Would Never Stay There Again

Posted Jul 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
The neighborhood was spotty---did not feel safe. Nobody manned the front desk, and the phone would go to a voice mail that was full. Very expensive--almost $100 for a place that gives dive hotels a bad name.

Room drenched in cigarette smoke

Posted May 28, 2013
Pros: The young lady at the front desk was really nice
Cons: Don't place guests in a smoking room when they booked a non-smoking room
Location: coolest little town in the United States
It ruined all of our clothes; we checked out a day earlier than our booking

Will do when amenities are not a factor.

Stayed here to find a house and do pre-employment tasks. The room was really clean. The staff made every effort to make my stay as easy as possible. Air conditioner was a little noisy, but didn't keep me from sleeping. Locals made a little noise after dark, but didn't bother anything and usually were quiet after 10 pm. Room had a mini fridge, microwave, and flat screen tv. Not bad for the low rate I was charged. I would use this hotel again.

Probably not again, but clean-ish.

This hotel wasn't really dirty inside the room, but it was far from comfortable. While the check in person was very nice, the hotel is a bit run down on the outside, and I was honestly worried about my car with all the people hanging around outside (but it was ok in the morning). The inside of the room clean and remodeled with new floors, but the bed was very uncomfortable and lacking a real comforter to keep warm. The "joining room door" was so thin and misaligned that I could hear every noise through it, and through the outside, so the neighbors TV even on low kept me awake. When I went to check out at 7ish the desk was still closed. I slid the key under the door and left. Overall a bad nights sleep due to lots of noise, but clean enough if you must find somewhere to stay at a low rate.
