Some downsides

Posted Jul 25, 2015
When we arrived shortly after the 3 p.m. check-in time, we were told our room was not yet ready. Desk staff quickly dispatched someone to check the room status and shortly we were in our room. Apparently, there was a lack of communication with staff, though, because soon after we settled into the room, a housekeeper opened the door and walked in on us--no knock first. Also, we were directed to our second floor room through an outside door to a stairwell--no elevator?? On the positive side, the room was spacious and clean, though for a non-smoking facility, the room had a trace of cigarette odor. My biggest complaint about the room itself is that the wall-mounted air conditioning unit blows directly across the bed, making for an uncomfortable sleeping experience. The breakfast was well-stocked, adequately varied, and fresh. At the morning check-out, the young girl at the desk did not offer any greeting--no "good morning," no "may I help you." Instead, I had to announce my purpose, at which time she merely collected the room cards, looked in the computer, and finally said, "You're all done"--no "good-bye" or "thank you for staying with us" or "have a nice trip;" in short, not much offered in the way of interpersonal communication.

They care about service.

Posted Jul 20, 2015
Pros: Everything - SEC Network available, decent mid ranged price, friendliness, fine breakfast, cleanliness, rooms are well stocked and in great shape.
Cons: Cards in the room with all the TV channels listed.
Location: Frankfort the capital city, and Lexington which holds the University of Kentucky. Easy access to I-64
It's quite obvious that management and staff from the top to the bottom care about and take pride in the service they offer. The place was literally perfect. The rooms were very clean and well stocked. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was good and the attendant responsible for keeping up with a packed house was even better. Both counter clerks were cheerful, polite and friendly. If you stay anywhere else while visiting Frankfort, I guarantee you made a mistake. This place was perfect for the price. With the service we had, the cleanliness and the well maintained breakfast, you would never believe this hotel was booked full. These employees must come with 4 arms attached and live in a 36 hour day to get done all that needs to be done and do such a fine job of it. Any time I ever come through Kentucky and need a place to take my family for a stay, you betcha we're coming here again. These people actually care. Thank you Kentucky!

Comfortable Mid-Range Hotel

Posted May 4, 2015
We stayed here for a long weekend during the Kentucky Derby. Louisville hotels were extremely overpriced. This was about 45 minutes from Churchill Downs, but we used the added travel time to discuss and debate the happenings of the day. The staff was very pleasant, we told the maid on the first day that we didn't want our room cleaned during our stay and she never bothered us again, which I greatly appreciate. The lady who maintained the breakfast area was super nice. The breakfast was good, waffle iron, pastries, cereal and some warm items. The bed and pillows were a little too firm for my taste; I like a soft bed. But, overall, we were very happy with our stay and had a great weekend!

Perfect for my needs, which is to say, a week long stay with three kids. Staff was lovely and helpful. Room was clean, pool was great, workout room was adequate.

Southern comfort

Love the Frankfort area. Quaint southern town. Did the tour at Buffalo Trace Distillery. Would love to return & do more. Hotel was conveniently located off Interstate & up on a hill. This might have been a big plus as area had received record rainfall.

We stayed here while in town visiting family. It was a good stay. The hotel is easy to get to and we felt safe. We were unable to use the pool because of severe weather, but it looked nice. We'll definitely stay there again.

Downtown Gatlinburg, TN

Everything outdated except tv. Room smelled like cigarettes and pet odors. Bathroom had clumps of hair on floor and hair in the tub. Toilet not cleaned. Breakfast poor, and they ran out of food 1 hour before it was to close. On the upside, the back door opened up to a lovely stream, but it was too cold out to enjoy it. Over all was very disappointed. Frequent traveler.

Easy access to highways and shopping/dining.

Our room was clean and orderly, had hot water and good water pressure, and it was quiet. The non-slip mat in the tub was old and peeling up, which looked a little cheap, but that's the only negative comment I had about the room. The biscuits and gravy at the breakfast area were exceptional!!
