Cons: The pool needs less chlorine.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The location, near the university, was convenient to the downtown area.

Great stay.

Posted Jun 8, 2014
Pros: We really enjoyed the breakfast bar. Mmmmmm good.
Cons: There was a dead spider in the corner under the bathroom sink that had been there more than a few days.
We only stayed 1 night. Bed was really comfortable.

Pros: Staff friendly and polite.
Cons: Facility needs updating.
Location: Location awesome.
Hotel staff polite. While in the pool area with my family we found a small pantyliner in the pool. I was not aware that the hotel was pet friendly.

We apologize for your pool experience as I am sure it was disappointing. We are a pet friendly hotel as stated on our website so if you have a pet please let us know as we do have a pet policy and modest fee to have your pet stay with us. If you were wanting a pet free environment we apologize and hope that despite what transpired during your visit you would still consider our hotel in the future. Close to UK, but none too clean...

Posted May 27, 2014
Pros: If you don't mind the fact that it wasn't terribly clean, it is within 1/2 mile of the university and close to downtown.
Cons: More thorough cleaning, repair damaged walls and ceilings, paint. Just general upkeep could be improved.
Location: Walking distance to university and close to downtown.
There was trash under the furniture and the floor in the bathroom was obviously dirty. I chose this hotel because of the excellent reviews, but I would not stay there again.

I apologize that we missed the mark on cleanliness during your visit. We should have delivered on that since that is service basic for us and it is unacceptable that we didn't. We do hope that you would try us again on your next visit so that we have an opportunity to make it right. Barbara Jean Beighle - General Manager

Non-smoking room practically non-existent

Posted May 26, 2014
Pros: Breakfast was very good. The room was clean. Hot coffee 24 hours.
Location: Close to the University of Kentucky and downtown.
Our room smelled like stale cigarette smoke. I immediately stopped up and had a miserable night. I asked at check-in if we had a non-smoking room and was told we did. However, when we got to our room, it did NOT have the no smoking sign outside the door. I did not complain as I had been told at check-in how full the hotel was. My daughter also had a non-smoking room. Her room also smelled like stale smoke. She got moved the second night because she pitched a fit.

Cons: bed pillows too soft
I recently stayed at your Holiday Inn Express property on Export Dr. in Lexington, Ky. My stay was top notch as I have come to expect from Holiday Inn. The morning breakfast experience was especially enjoyable, everything was ready at 6:30 am Coffee, eggs, bacon, bagels and cereal; again all to be expected at Holiday Inn. The kicker was your staff member responsible for setting up the breakfast. Her name is Teresa… very pleasant…eagerly greeting each guest as we shuffled into the breakfast area looking for our caffeine fix. Teresa treated us as if we where at her house or her own breakfast cafe. Everyone left with a smile on their face, thanks to Teresa's personal touch...she is an asset to the Holiday Inn Express Corporation. Sincerely, Roy Stivers

hotel close to downtown and KU

Posted Apr 11, 2014
Pros: proximity to downtown and highways
staff was fine and helpful - lighting in room was not very good - for a newer (I thought) hotel, it seemed a bit worn and shabby.

National Conference of Undergraduate Research 2014

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Cab rides to the heart of campus = $7. Centrally located to campus & downtown. Walking to campus and downtown is just a 15 - 18 min walk.
Cons: Housekeeping cleaning. A spot in the bathroom remained despite housekeeping having been there while I was away. No in-house restaurant = no room svc.
Duration of stay: 4-3-2014 through 4-6-2014 Staff * Friendly *Patient *Welcoming *Cheerful *Helpful *Knowledgeable about the area and its features *Happily willing to go the extra mile Meghan, Becca, and Kyle are the front desk personnel that I had the pleasure to work with. They were knowledgeable about restaurants, events, other hotels, and landmarks of the town. They will happily go the extra mile to make your stay as accommodating as possible. I arrived one day early than what I had booked my hotel room for. I worked with Becca and another gentleman to see if there was one room available with this hotel. There wasn't. They called other hotels in the area and personally found me one to stay in for the night of my early arrival. They also personally called a cab to transport me from their hotel to my temporary one. My flight out of Lexington was at 5:22 pm. Check out at this hotel is 11:00 am. They extended my stay (for free) until 1:00 pm. Becca personally worked with her managers and housekeeping to help make this happen. I asked Kyle for good places to watch the Wisconsin vs KY game. He personally did some research and printed out several pages of information. He made sure to include the name, address, and description of the establishment. The info was ready for me the following morning. I highly recommend this hotel! Location This is one of the closest hotels to campus. Walking to the heart of campus is about 15-18 min
