We enjoyed our stay at the Buena Vista lodge. We got to the lodge late at nite and the gate was locked to get into the lodge, so we had to turn around and go back into Liberia to spend the nite and then the next morning we took a taxi back. I would recommend staying in Liberia for one nite. We loved our one nite stay in the Liberia Hotel so it was worth it but a little stressful and inconvenient, but other than that Buena Vista Lodge was wonderful. We loved the horseback ride to the three falls so beautiful, and then to the mud baths. All the staff was great at the mud baths. We did the canopy tours which was so fun, we felt totally safe, the staff who helped us were great! We could go do the tour whenever we wanted to and they were very accommodating. The hanging bridge was fun too. on our third day we took the tractor ride back to the mud baths, which was also fun to ride the tractors.
The sunset bar was enjoyable. The setting at the sunset lodge is beautiful, many birds fun to sit and listen to all the birds. The food was good very healthy, rice, beans, vegetables and two kinds of meat everynite. The breakfast also was very good. I would definitely go back, even tho a liitle problem the first nite, we were compensated for it when we checked out.

I just stayed one night going from CR to Nicaragua. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable, staff were friendly and bi-lingual, breakfast was great. I was suprised at the poor reviews I found on the website, as I had stayed at this hotel before and everything was fine. The location of the hotel is super for bus travelers, as it's just 2 short blocks from Ticabus and TransNica bus stops. It's also close to a variety of restaraunts, fast food places, banks, etc. I would stay here again.
