“Excellent Customer Service!”
The Borinquen Hotel is an absolute must if you are in Costa Rica for a week or even a day. The pictures on the website do not do this resort justice. It is an absolutely gorgeous area, tamed, but still with giant lizards, cows, and monkeys right next door! The level of customer service would rival any 5-star hotel. The attention to detail that is provided by the staff in every facet truly makes Borinquen unique. Plus, they are all more than happy to teach you a few phrases in Spanish! My husband and I will most definitely be going back!
“beautiful, relaxing borinquin”
wonderful relaxing resort in the hills of costa rica. Would return and stay longer next time.
“Costa Rica's best resort!”
The most relaxing vacation! Everything that we wanted to do in Costa Rica was available through the resort. The location is breathtaking! The service was amazing! I would stay here again! The only thing is, there is no night life and there is nothing to do after 8pm.
“up in the mountains”
Great location in the mountains. However it is far from everything. We rented a car. You DO NOT need four wheel drive. The main roads in this part of Costa Rica are paved. But that is all. The rest are gravel, and not good gravel. But its a rental car so tough. The hotel is very attractive comfortable and friendly. Caution though, the rooms are bungalow style up a hill, they will take you to your room anytime you want in a vehicle. We chose to walk. I should say climb cause it is steep. You are pretty much regulated to eating in the on site location, not bad but not superb. Not too overpriced at all. The optional tours are way overpriced, we had the car we did it all ourselves. Rent a car with a GPS, it served us well. all the roads are on it and it was easy to drive. Bumpy yes but we had fun laughing about it
“Nirvana”
We enjoyed our stay. Very peaceful Setting once you travel the roads. Most of staff was welcoming but some seemed annoyed...maybe they were having a bad day? Our stay was short. But I would return....absolutely beautiful!
“Great stay in a nice resort in the middle of CR”
Well worth the visit. The resprt has everything you would need and is clean and comfortable with a lovely staff.
“Too much splendor!”
Very nice hotel, but a little over the top for my needs. The price was very high, reflecting the comfort level, but to be honest I am more comfortable in something a little less poured on. Don't get me wrong the little villa we had was gorgeous, but I just don't think I need that much, a little excessive for a country that prides itself in being ecological. I splurged since we stayed on Christmas eve and Christmas, and it was worth it, but I wouldn't really go back.
“Active as well as restful piece of paradise”
Borinquen is a lovely resort in a remote location in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. It is ideal for a short visit to enjoy its spa, pool, hot springs, zip line and other activities within the resort. It is in a transitional forest situated between the rain forest and dry forest areas receiving weather combinations from both. Monkeys, iguanas, toucans and other native birds can be seen from its lodging areas. Service is outstanding, the food is good and accommodations are comfortable.
“Isolated; Few activities”
The hotel is alone at the end of a 1-hour taxi ride(18 miles) over a dirt and cobblestone road. Once there, activities are limited to the Spa, ATV or horseback riding, with the option to slide down a cable throught the canopy instead of riding back. Each activity billed separately. A 12-hour excursion to the rain forest that we had booked previous to going never happened--the tour agency never showed up. Taxi to a different hotel in the national park cost $120, only to find that the activities there were limited to hiking (cost extra) or horseback riding (also extra). The ride to this second hotel was agsin over the 18 mile stone road to get there, and again over the same road to get back. The 4th trip over the 18 mile trail, the Taxi back to the airport, is another $55. If you just want the Spa and privacy, this is a good place. And the food is as good as most good hotels. But the food kind of defeats the purpose of the Spa, n'cest pa?
“Beautiful place but the service dissapointing.”
It is a beautiful property, make sure you will go on a horse back ride to the view point overlooking the ocaen when you are there. Unfortunately the service is rather dissapointing so do not expect the same standard you would get in a similar resort elsewhere. The restaurant is a disaster, both food and service are simply bad. The place is still worth visiting though for it's natural beauty, hot springs and a horse ride through the real Guanacaste countryside.
