Some good points, some bad

Posted Jul 18, 2011 on Hotels.com
I'll start with the good stuff. It is a brand new hotel, so everything is pretty much top of the range and working well. Food and drink in the hotel and the Premiere Cafe next door was cheap and very nice (around 3 euros for a massive pizza, around 1 euro for big bottle of water etc) The rooms were good and had Sky TV, safety deposit box and no general complaints about the rooms or hotel at all. Now the bad points. It is a long way from Naples, we were charged 140 euros from the airport to the hotel using the taxis outside the airport (so make sure you arrange for the hotel's driver to pick you up as this would have been only 25 euros!) but it still gives you an idea how far away this place is from Naples. Not that this is the hotel's fault, but the beach is only 10 min walk away, and you have to walk past mountains of rubbish and stray dogs, and then you have to pay 25 euros per person to use the beach. There is only one restuarant within a 15 / 20 min walk of the hotel, otherwise you need to use taxis. A huge problem we had was the fact they open their pool to non-hotel residents, so from Friday to Sunday it is jam packed and people staying in the hotel (including us) couldn't get a sun bed around our own pool due to local residents using them, we thought this was utterly unfair. Also, the Jaccuzzi / Hot Tub was broken throughout our whole stay. They also do not let you into the swimming pool unless you wear a rubber swimming cap which I wasn't too happy about as I don't put my head under the water anyway! Overall the staff was pretty good and the hotel was nice. We probably wouldn't return as we wouldn't go back to Naples, but if the hotel was somewhere else (and pool wasn't open to non-hotel residents) we would happily return.
