Beware of the shameless extra charges

Posted Dec 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
the standard room was trendy, spacious and comfortable. the bathroom has all it needed, including a separate cubicle with power shower. After a work out in the well equipped gym, we had a meal at the degustation restaurant which was expensive but well worth the money. This is what you expect from a 5 star hotel right? As always the surprise is in the tail. At the check out we found out that breakfast was 21euro each (or £34 for couple) The buffet was not impressive. It also appeared now that the gym was at an extra charge (5 stars hotel without own gym??) at 15euro each (or £24 for couple) and there was also an additional tax of 7euro (£5). The nearly DOUBLED our initial booking fee. The staff really let us down here. I specifically asked at the gym how it worked before entering. I was only asked if I was a resident at the hotel with no mention of charges at all. At the reception desk there was no understanding for the fact the extra gym charges were not mentioned in the list of extras on my booking reservation. It was not clear (or clear enough) at the time of booking what was included or not, but to promote it as a stay at a 5 star hotel, one expects the gym IS included. After some arguing they agreed to refund this fee, but it kind of ruined our otherwise nice stay. I recommend the hotel, just be aware of the RyanAir-style extra charges

Good location near the Christmas village

Pros: Nice room
Cons: Lifts were an art to operate sometimes!
Location: Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, close to the market and shops/city centre

An 5 star hotel that deserves only one

Posted Nov 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
.Sink blocked and nobody able to solve the situation during the all week-end we stayed there (2 nights). Bed not so comfortable. Spider webs and dust in the room. A breakfast that really has nothing to offer and difficult to access due to the people queuing to get their scramble eggs. The only positive point is the spa with a nice swimming pool. Will we go again in this hotel ? No Way.

Best Hotel in Liege

I was in Liege on Business and the this hotel made the trip most pleasurable. The property is top category in my opinion. Helpful staff, good choice of restaurants and some entertainment in the lounge.
