Hotel was very clean and was located in a quite area but not too close too any tourist attractions.

Very helpful staff. Small hotel but alright as a reasonable option for short stays. In the safer part of town, far away from Miraflores where all the action is. Front office gives you good advice on prices and options for Lima. Taxis in Lima have no meters, do negotiate before you go anywhere near a taxi. Megatur, green taxi are safe options

“Great breakfasts but a bit out of the way”

This is an smaller and older hotel (I'd guess built in the 1950s or 1960s) and its rooms have a more traditional look, though you get the bonus of having more space than you do in many modern hotels and both public areas and rooms are well maintained. The hotel is in the San Isidro district - Lima's most affluent and, consequently, safest neighbourhood. So if you want somewhere clean, safe and quiet, this is a good place to stay. The downside is that you are some distance from the shops and restaurants, but Lima taxis are not expensive. The best thing about the Basadre Suites Hotel, though, is its breakfasts. I've stayed at 2, 3 and 4 star hotels across Peru and the breakfasts of the Basadre Suites are easily the best. To sum up: slightly old-fashioned (but not in a bad way); safe and quiet neighbourhood; great breakfasts.

“Good for frequent business/pleasure travellers”

Local house that has been converted into a hotel. Pool is modest, house-sized - so feels more decorative. Great location for business or simply to move around Lima. Not many shops in the vicinity. Did not see any convenience stores around the neighbourhood. May not be the best for a first-time traveller to Peru or Latin America in general.

“A hommy type of lodge”

This used to be a mansion in Lima's priviledged neighborhood, converted into a hotel, thus it does not have the facilities a modern hotel offers, yet you feel "at home" almost as you were staying at your old aunt's house that has a nice yard and a swimming pool. Modest yet comfortable, security is good, and the friendliness of the personnel makes you feel welcome. Because of the lack of the upgrades of modern hotels, the rates could be cheaper.

“Airport layover, ummm this is not close to the airport”

Overall this hotel was a good hotel to stay at. However it stated it was an airport hotel and this hotel is atleast 30 min cab ride. When we also checked in the receptionist was extremely sick and yes, my wife was then sick and it did not make the vacation very enjoyable. Aside from those 2 points, the service was good and the hotel is very clean.

“An old mansion converted into a small hotel”

Service is personalized, you do not feel wrapped up in the commercial environment, but rather gives you the feeling at beint at "grandmother's house". Do not expect the commercial conveniences that modern hotels offer. This one has the basic comforts that you would get if staying at a relative's house.

“Not what I expected”

The only really good thing I could say about this hotel was that it was in a safe neighborhood of Lima which is not the norm. The breakfast was weak and not set up at the time promised. The beds were like cots. The hotel seemed quite old. The doorman was friendly and helpful however.

“Basadre Suites”

Location is safe and pleasant but there is nothing near the hotel except KFC--no place for coffee,dining, browsing; taxi required for virtually everything except a Vivanda supermarket Toilet wedged between wall and shower; uncomfortable to use especially by this tall traveller. Flat screen tv was small and remote didn't work well. Hotel driver was very aggressive though reliable; costs weren't spelled out beforehand and resulted in some unanticipated expenditures. Next visit I'll stay in Miraflores.

“Very disappointing”

Tolit seat did not fit the toilet, and was loose, very dangerous. Windows did not lock, 2 of them had bars so those were OK, but other one did not. Ended up using a nightstand drawer to block the window from opening. Door flip lock broken off, so only door lock was the push button in the knob, very, very poor security! Requested wake up call never came, (on the day we were leaving for the airport). Suites???? room had a table and two little chairs, guess that makes it a suite. Breakfast, no attendent, had only a home coffee maker and we had to go to the front desk to ask for someone to make coffee.
