Too 'palatial' for my taste.

Pros: Good, safe location. Very early morning coffee and croissants available in lobby.
Cons: Average size rooms. Had to pay extra for wi-fi. Surprisingly "thin" walls between rooms!
Location: In the heart of posh San Isidro.
As experienced but more adventurous travellers, this hotel seemed a little over the top in terms of grandiose elegance... especially the lobby!. Upon arrival in Lima, we stayed at the Westin which we found more than met our desire to enjoy an upscale hotel before hitting the more unpredictable and smaller hotels along the way to and from Machu Pichu. We actually found the Westin to be extremely clean, comfortable, tastefully designed and spacious, without the formulaic pretense of the Swissotel. In short, we found the Swissotel - where we chose to spend our last night back in Lima before heading home - overrated. Would not stay there again. Seems silly to pay extra for its' questionable first-class status.

Not so much for the tourist
Posted Jan 19, 2012
Pros: Very comfortable beds
Cons: Its a bit of a distance to tourist attractions.
Location: Its in the middle of the business area. Its a good 40min walk to the tourist bits.
Good hotel with friendly staff. But more suited for the business traveler than the tourist.

Best for business travelers although tourists welcome

Swissotel was a very good experience, I liked the fact that the staff learned one's name quite quickly, that they were welcoming at the front desk and that the wait staff were very quick at their duties, e.g. clearing used plates off the tables. The amenities were very good - dressing gown, slippers, coffee maker etc, welcoming platter. The adjoining spa provided a great massage!. What I did not enjoy was that the hotel is really in a business neighbourhood although it was not too far to get to the shopping areas by taxi.
