Location LocationPosted Sep 10, 2013
Pros: Genuine 5 star & the location is perfect for trains, metro & buses. Breakfast is excellent & the bar often has free classical music in the evenings.
Cons: While the hotel offers free WiFi, for guests without a laptop a general area with access to the internet would be useful.
Location: The Rossio station for trains to Queluz & Sintra is next door & the metro station 50 metres away.
I have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions & the services & standard remain both excellent & constant. It is perfectly located for all types of transport in Lisbon.

Living in a PalacePosted Sep 1, 2013
Location: The Avenida Palace is beautifully situated right next to the historic district and a short walk to the river Tagus.
We were treated like royality by the staff. We were upgraded to an exquisitely furnished junior suite. As we were unpacking a chambermaid arrived with a bowl of fresh grapes and on our last evening she reappeared with a small bottle of Port and a personal note from the manager. The bartender was right out of central casting--courteous and knowledgeable. He made reservations for us at a Fado club that was first rate and not the tourist dive we feared it might be. When we asked the concierge to reserve a taxi to take us to the airport at 6:00am, he insisted on sending breakfast to our room at 5:30. I thought this kind of service was only available at hotels that cost two or three times as much. Had we known, we would have planned to stay in Lisbon longer!

Pleasant HotelPosted Aug 23, 2013
Pleasant Hotel. Good buffet breakfast in the morning. Room was comfortable. Washroom was fine except for the shower...the shower head was mounted on a vertical tube that kept on sliding down while having a shower on top of a very narrow bath tub.

An experience not to be missedPosted Aug 21, 2013
Cons: Having to checkout
Location: Very central for the Baxia area, a bit tricky to find the entrance if your driving.
If you want pampering old style then this hotel is a must. Friendly, helpful staff who can't do enough to make your stay idyllic. Breakfast to die for, everything you could possibly want, served in a fantastic dining room from a bygone era. All in all a real experience not to be missed.

I enjoyed every minute of my ten-night stay at this luxury hotel in the heart of Lisbon. My beautiful room, free Wifi, gracious staff, copious and delicious buffet breakfasts, and evening piano concerts in the elegant ballroom made my residence at the the Avenida Palace Hotel a memorable one.

Beautiful hotel in Lisbon - excellent locationPosted Jul 30, 2013
Pros: The public rooms were very beautiful - it gave us a real sense of luxury.
Cons: The bedrooms themselves could be slightly better furnished.
Location: There were some very good restaurants nearby in the Alto Bairro and the hotel was within walking distance of the port and not far from the castle.
We were well looked after at the Avenida Palace Hotel in Lisbon. The staff were polite and extremely helpful; the location was excellent for sightseeing, being very close to a Metro station; the breakfasts were excellent. We had a five-star experience and were extremely comfortable.
