“Excellent location”

This hotel is very convenient for everything. It is near the tour buses and adjoins the station for trains to Sintra. There are loads of cafes and restaurants near by.

This hotel was absolutely beautiful! Elegant truly describes it. Breakfast was abundant and delicious! We stayed one night and had to catch a flight in the morning. Wish we could have stayed longer. Service was outstanding.

“Luxury in Lisbon”

I have never looked forward so much to returning each evening, after a busy day sightseeing, to this elegant hotel, to relax with a drink in their beautiful lounge. Five star treatment from all the staff. Centrally situated, I found this hotel a most enjoyable experience.

“old world elegance”

The hotel is very historic appearing. A wonderful breakfast is served in an elegant large room with chandeliers. Rooms are compact but very comfortable and clean. Location is ideal for walking around old Lisbon. Staff were very professional.

“Old Charm”

This is a charming, art deco hotel from the turn of the 19th century. It used to be THE place to stay in Lisbon. The interiors are gorgeous , especially in the sitting room downstairs and in the breakfast room. Our room and bathroom were comfortable and of reasonable size, especially for big European cities, but not outstanding. The concierge had very helpful touring and restaurant tips, one can rely on them. Buffet breakfasts were good. The hotel is perfectly located, I can't imagine a better location in Lisbon. In general, if you are into Hiltons and Sheratons of the world this might not be your cup of tea. If you like a place with a look and feel of grand, old European hotels this is the place for you in Lisbon (but remember that you are not in Paris).

“Very well located”

Hotel is located near center of town. Also next to "resturant row". We rented a junior suite that came with two bathrooms. Breakfast buffet was good and overall service was excellent. We will stay there again the next time we go to Lisbon. Warning: My wallet was stolen near the hotel by a expert "pick-pocket". I would not have know what happened if it had not been for a witness.

“Would go back tomorrow!”

My husband and I travel extensively and this is definitely one of the best hotels in which we have stayed! It is centrally located : all important sites are within walking distance. There is a subway station in the same block. There is a train station right next door that will take you to nearby attractions like Sintra. The buses leave from a square which is one block away. The hotel has all the charm of old style Europe with all the comfort of modern hotels. Service is very efficient and friendly. Breakfasts are delicious. We will surely use it again when we go back to Lisbon!

“Faded Elegance”

This was our second stay at the Avenida Palace, and we do like these old "Grand Hotels". Unfortunately, the "Grand Entrance" to the hotel is no longer used, and really looks grim. To get in, you have to walk into a small passage formed by a metal construction wall and whatever space is left by parked cars. Once inside, the elegant reception rooms make you forget the first bad impression. The staff is very friendly and helpful. When we changed rooms, several maids helped retrieve a guide book which we had left behind in the unsatisfactory room. They also showed us a little library of "left books" which we could take. They were in many languages including Greek and Japanese. I took one in English, and left another. Even reserving online, this is a pretty pricey place. The wonderful buffet breakfast, though, is included, and is among the best we have enjoyed anywhere in the world. You won't need to eat again, if you plan your day properly.

Loved the hotel and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location and easy to get around from the hotel, metro and walking. Our room was spacious, clean and had all the facilities required. Would recommend the hotel.
