Excellent hotel, conveniently locatedPosted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Well positioned and very comfortable
Cons: The mattress was a bit bouncy!
Location: The hotel was close to all forms of transport and within easy walking distance of restaurants
The hotel was very comfortable and extremely well located with buses and trains nearby. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was well appointed. The breakfast in the hotel was excellent and the hotel was also close to restaurants for evening meals.

Perfectly situated hotel in centre of Old LisbonPosted Mar 26, 2014
Pros: The general ambience and quality of staff
The Avenida Palace Hotel combines, extremely well, traditional style with modern comfort. Even the standard rooms have plenty of space and are beautifully presented. The staff are immensely helpful and always friendly. The breakfast was outstanding and available as late as 1030am. As for its location, it could not be more convenient for access on foot to the old centre of Lisbon and main sites; moreover trains, trams, buses, metro and taxis can all be accessed nearby.

Perfect location and exceptional customer service.Posted Mar 24, 2014
Cons: My only minor criticism was the shower pressure wasn't as powerful as I would have liked. However, the positives far outweighed that 1 minor point.
Location: Everything is within walking distance. Shops, restaurants, nightlife, public transport stops. Location is perfect.
I spent 2 nights at Avenida Palace and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. If I had to describe the hotel in 1 word, it would be "grand". The location is perfect for all major attractions and the staff were exceptional in all aspects of their work (attitude, helpfulness, politeness, pro-active etc etc.). The bar staff in particular couldn't do enough with useful tips about the city, where to drink and eat and Pedro even taught me some Portugese! A very classy hotel, which I would recommend to anyone staying in Lisbon.

Ideally placed for centre of cityPosted Mar 21, 2014
Pros: The breakfast was superb. The staff most helpful. The decor in the lounge bar area. Shame we missed the piano concert on the night we were leaving.
Cons: The only slight disappointment was not serving dinner, although there are numerous restaurants nearby, all very reasonably priced.
Location: We used the red and blue bus routes (hop on / off). Main shopping streets and squares all with-in easy walk. Aquarium well worth visit also castle.
The hotel is situated right in the centre of the city. It has been beautifully restored although maybe a little ostentatious for some tastes (not ours). It is really easy to get to from the airport on the metro, with trains running every few minutes - costs less than 2 euros each (keep your green card as these cost 50c). The hotel is a very short walk from the station. The staff cannot do enough for you and all speak excellent English. Use the "grey" bus hop on/off city tours. You can get 48hr tickets from the concierge. Ideal for seeing most of the further afield sights.

Great hotel in centre of LisbonPosted Mar 12, 2014
Two night stay to celebrate a Wedding Anniversary in early March. Splendid hotel of the old school. Definitely the place to stay for a special occasion. A short walking distance from the many fashionable shops and interesting restaurants located in the pedestrian boulevards of this part of Lisbon. Great superior twin room and excellent breakfast in a grand, but not overbearing dining room. Very good value at this time of the year.

Lovely refurbished hotel in perfect location.Posted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: The location is particularly good and as the hotel is not part of a chain it has individuality and style. It is not really a hotel for children.
Location: The hotel is beside the station, close to the tramways and the tourist information. It is also well placed for walking to many tourist sites.
We had a quiet room and were upgraded to a Junior Suite which was lovely. The rooms are refurbished and the hotel is an old Victorian era building. The rooms were large and there are lots of spaces full of sofas and chairs, flowers and chandeliers, to sit and watch the world go by if that's your thing. The hotel is perfectly placed for eating out at night and provided a good variety for the buffet breakfast selection as well as snacks in the evening. It would not be good for children as there are no facilities except a bar. It is ideal for couples sight seeing. You do need to be fit as the whole town is built on hills but it was very relaxing to come back at the end of the day and freshen up before going out for supper.

Pros: Polite helpful staff, beautiful antique decor, excellent food as grand hotels used to be
Cons: No tea making facilities in rooms
Location: Super location in heart of city with shops, restaurants, public transport etc very nearby
Came with husband to celebrate 60 the birthday Was given an unexpected upgrade on arrival ( they hadn't been told this was reason for our stay) so I said "how wonderfull it's my birthday today". Shortly after we had been shown up to our luxurious suite, there was a knock on the door & a complimentary bottle of champagne was wheeled in on a trolley for us - another wonderful surprise!

Good central locationPosted Dec 11, 2013
Pros: Breakfast and location
Cons: Tea facilities in the room, though Starbucks next door helped a bit
Location: Central, st just a, the main shopping areas, Gloria elavador and Baird alto all nearby, short walk to the riverside and also parks.
Nice welcome, and small but comfortable room, decor is quite grand, but in places a bit tired. Breakfast was lovely and great selection. Location made hopping a pruned lisbon easy, with the castle and lifts within in easy walking distance
