“Lovely Portugese Experience”
The rooms are large and attractive and comfortable. The staff could not have been more accommodating and we liked the quiet yet convenient location. The hotel has wonderful ambiance and a real Portugese feel. It is a definite find.
“Amazing LIttle Hotel in Great Location”
Amazing. Small hotel with personalized service. Front desk could not be more helpful. Intimate bar with great bartenders.
“Would definitely go back.”
I was most impressed with the staff - who were very courteous, very knowledgable, and very attentive. Great dinner recommendations. The library and the complimentary age port were especially nice touches. The breakfasts were also very good.
“Excellent choice”
We arrived Nov 3/2010 at 8:00 AM, and they immediately gave us a room. They also invited us to breakfast (full buffet, cereals, bacon and eggs, toast, sweet rolls etc.), which we were never charged for. The room was very large, and included a separate foyer with a daybed and a desk. This boutique hotel is a real find, cozy, quiet and with great service at a very reasonable price. It ranks #1 on Tripadvisor.
“Like Your Own Private Club”
Small, warm and inviting, the Hotel Britania is a welcome respite from a long day of walking and touring. The staff is excellent ---- from giving directions to out-of-the-way destinations, to recommending "just the right spot" for dinner at "just the right price." One gets the feeling that there are many repeat guests and, based on our experience, we will be among that number should we return to Lisbon. The location of the hotel is very good - right off the Avenue Liberdade - and, although there is some noise from the small street which can be heard when the room windows are open ( all rooms face the street), this provides nice light and, overall, the area is a quiet residential one. The rooms are very large, beautifully restored to the original Art Deco and well appointed. Because of its size and the smaller number of rooms, we felt personally cared for. This is definitely not a large institutional hotel experience. If you require a full-service restaurant, shopping and spa facilities on premise, then The Britania is not for you. If you want a highly personal experience in a lovely environment ---- make this the place to return at the end of a long day, where you will be greeted by name and with a genuine happy-to-see-you-back-home smile.
“Paradise in Lisbon”
What a fabulous hotel. We checked in only to find that the kind staff had upgraded us to a top floor suite that was divine. The suite has very modern, clean, had a huge amount of living space and 2 large decks to sit out and enjoy the cooler evenings. The only bad thing is we were only there 2 nights! When we came back from our dinner the first night we found a decanter of port which was a lovely touch. The staff were excellent, very attentive and gave great restaurant recommendations. Everything about our stay was perfect. We will absolutley stay there again when we return to Lisbon.
“Great service. Excellent hotel.”
We fully enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Britannia. The woman at the reception desk was incredibly helpful and friendly; our room was very comfortable; and the hotel -overall- was lovely. We also appreciated the easy walk to the port area.
“comfortable small hotel in Lisbon”
small comfortable hotel. relatively expensive for Lisbon. no food service except breakfast but there are a large number of restaurants close by. location is away from the beaten path.
“One of the Best Hotels I've Stayed In”
If your going to Lisbon and you need a nice, quiet place to stay with an excellent breakfast, large rooms, the Hotel Britania is the place. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, it was simply a wonderful place to stay. You won't find a gym or a pool here; or a loud bar at night. (There is a beautiful bar off the lobby, but if your looking for music, go somewhere else.) The staff is fantastic. They all speak perfect English and with just 33 rooms, they get to know every guest. The rooms are much larger that most European hotels with very comfortable beds, all kept immaculately clean. The hotel is a block from the Avenida do Liberdade, Lisbon's equal to the Champs Elysee, so you're a two minute walk to a Metro or bus stop, or a ten minute walk to the downtown area with all the restaurants. The airport is a 15 minute taxi ride away. If you look around the web, you'll see that the Britania is always ranked number one for Lisbon hotels. After our stay there, my wife and I have no doubts as to why. It really is the best.
“One of the best in Europe regardless of price”
The hotel was amazing. I have stayed in hotels in Europe with similar sized rooms and amenities---for triple the cost! We arrived at 8:30 a.m. and were shown to our room immediately. The hotel is extremely well located, within walking distance of fine restaurants and major downtown attractions. The staff was fantastic at pointing out restaurants, arranging taxis et al. There is a wonderfully cozy bar/tearoom and breakfast room adjacent to the lobby. Truly one of the hidden gems of Europe.
