Would go there againPosted Feb 16, 2014
Pros: Very nice and modern hotel, ideal location, friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Rooms could be more soundproofed. It would be good to have a pencil/pen and paper for notes in the room.
Stayed there for 2 nights to walk in Lisbon. Everything was OK, I liked the hotel.

Great looking hipster hotel with lousy bathroomsPosted Feb 11, 2014
Pros: The location, very central in Baixa Lissabon. The friendly staff. The design and the nice lobby.
Cons: The bathroom! The shower door leaks really badly. Wet floors every time you shower. Bathroom stank because of that.
Location: Great central location, central old town, close to the water, close to may sightseeing attractions, shopping, restaurants. Fantastic.
This could be a fantastic hotel. The location, the design and decoration are marvelous! I would call this a hipster hotel with many 2.0 features. All rooms are equipped with an iMac and iPad, AC, key lock for all the lights, automatic light at entering the corridors (which is very scary if it doesn't work, the halls are pitch dark), a fully equipped kitchenette, TV, radio, vault, ironing board, etc. Very good. The bed was very hard, a bit too hard for me, but that might be personal taste. The linen was good, although I didn't get fresh sheets in 5 days.

Good hotel in great location in centre of Lisbon.Posted Feb 3, 2014
Pros: Nice decor and excellent location.
Cons: Fix the shower leakage.
Location: Easy walk to Praca Do Cormecio, Castelo Do Sao Jorge, the atmospheric Alfama district, the upmarket shopping Chiado district and Bairro Alto nightlife
Brown's is right in the heart of Baixa, within easy walking distance of almost all attractions in the centre of Lisbon. There is a Metro stop (Baixa-Chiado) just a couple of minutes walk away, almost just around the corner. It was easy to get to/from the Airport - one change: at Alameda station. (Cheaper than Airport bus.) Free computer and tablet in room. No breakfast supplied but there is free coffee and tea in the lobby. My room had a fridge, kettle and small hob, with dishes and glasses etc. There is a small supermarket (Pingu Doce) only a few minutes walk away, just off Rossio, where one could buy groceries or sit in for breakfast. My only negative is something I'd read in other reviews; there is a leak from the shower and this forms wet patches on the floor outside. There occasionally was a slight smell of damp in the bathroom as a result.(Oh, and WHY do the cleaners close the blackout curtains, so you return to total darkness if you hadn't left a light in the ON position? Wierd)

City breakPosted Feb 1, 2014
Pros: Style, close to everything, friendly staff
Cons: Radio was not easy to use, but retro so I guess was ok. Door at the shower so the water does not flow in the bathroom
Location: Excelent location, close to many Lisboa attractions even just by foot
Excelent downtown choice close to everything. This hotel has style. Way more expensive to walk in and rent a room.

Nice Hotel / Nice pricePosted Jan 21, 2014
Cons: The internet was not working in the rooms - only the lobby.
Nice hotel, but since the hallways and rooms are all hardwood floors, it can get noisy - especially with the locks of the other doors in the hallways 'clicking' all night. If you are a light sleeper, you may want to try another hotel. The staff is better than excellent and very friendly.

good locaiton but noisy floorsPosted Dec 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
the Brown's downtown is located in a convenient neighborhood and within a walking distance to many of the city sites and close to a Metro Station. the only complaint is that the floors are noisy. I could hear the foot steps from the room above and the washroom. on a couple of nights the garbage on the street was picked up at 1am and was noisy. Besides these couple of noises, the hotel was nice, the staff was helpful and the location is convenient.

Brown's DownTownPosted Nov 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was directly in the Baxia neighborhood with two subway stations close to the hotel.

Brown's Downtown hotel In LisbonPosted Nov 2, 2013
I really enjoyed my stay at Brown's Downtown for so many reasons. It's location couldn't be better. Situated in Baixa in central Lisbon it is easy to walk to many areas of the city, or if you can't face the hills the metro, buses and trams are all close by. The hotel is stylish with a retro feel, 60s furniture in the lobby, black and white photographs on the walls and retro objects in my room. My room was clean, comfortable and had a balcony overlooking the road which fortunately is one of the more quiet ones in Baixa. I visited in October when the weather was not too hot but the room had both air conditioning and a ceiling fan for the hot summer months. The staff were friendly, easy going and always ready to help. Breakfast was included and it was served in the hotel's coffee shop just down the road. Again really friendly staff and an enormous continental breakfast that went beyond coffee and a croissant. I would definitely stay there again.

Hotel was everything it said it was. We really enjoyed our stay here and would certainly recommend it to our friends. Staff were very helpful and breakfast at Browns coffee shop was excellent. Good location for sight seeing, Metro & railway. 10/10
