excellent boutique hotelPosted Jun 9, 2014
Pros: standard of hotel, staff, location
Cons: laundry service not available
Location: near to centre of Cascais, restuarant and beaches all close
hotel combines old Portuguese style with modern and of a very high standard. Well located to the centre of Cascais in a select neighbourhood. Staff we very helpful and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Price was very reasonable and I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others

Excellent boutique hotelPosted May 17, 2014
Pros: The setting was beautiful, gardens wonderful, decor was tasteful and all the rooms were different.
Cons: Just the wi-fi could be improved as you can't get access in some of the rooms.
Location: Close to everything, beach, restaurants, museums and shops.
We enjoyed ourselves at this hotel. The gardens were stunning, it was close to town and the beach - you could walk, the common lounge area was very peaceful and breakfast was self serve with everything you needed to set you up for the day. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The beds were very comfortable, and there was a little kitchenette that you could prepare a snack for lunch if you were on a tight budget. We had a relaxing stay.

Quality, Class and no compromisePosted Apr 5, 2014
Pros: The lush garden, pool, accommodating staff and delicious breakfast.
Cons: I'm thinking.
Location: Close to all amenities and the main road to Lisbon.
Tucked away, in a tranquil hilltop, only a five minute walk from the core of Cascais, The Casa Vela combines (long forgotten) classical hospitality with peace of mind, beautiful surrounding and charming rooms. This is 5 star treatment with reasonable prices and (returning) international clientele. The Management know what it is doing it right and reinforces its strength. The complimentary breakfast is delicious and beautifully presented. My wife and 'i came here for a two day visit, and stayed for two weeks! The choice was simple. Ask the staff about their recommendation for local restaurants - where tourists don't thread. Casa Vela is a winner. Enjoy.

Nice and quite location 10 mins walk from tcenter.Posted Oct 22, 2013
Overall ok, nice breakfast with selection of bread, cakes, Nespresso and fresh fruit, however a bit crowded at "rush hour" in the weekend. I will not recommend the Goa "suite" as you look directly in to a wall and it is a bit dark and moist, but the interior decoration is fine.

Disappointed with a non view roomPosted Sep 26, 2012 on Hotels.com
Disappointed, I booked 8 months ago at full price and got their worst apartment (for 4 nights). We had a view of a stone wall, not shown on their website of course. If you book, get the room name confirmed before going. The garden was very nice as were the breakfast and staff The open plan bathroom/bedroom was not to our taste but all very modern with a plastic garden settee! So not comfortable Would I go again? No – I thought I’d booked a room shown on the website with lots of glass and views of the garden and sky! It was twice the price of our other Hotels in Portugal and poor value

excellent b+b in cascaisPosted Aug 30, 2012 on Hotels.com
We've loved both the town and the b+b. It is a great place to get away from it all, yet it is only 5 mins walk to the sea and 10/15 mins into town. Will be back for sure

A Little OasisPosted May 14, 2012
Pros: The fabulous bathroom and jacuzzi shower, and the gardens.
Cons: Not much information in the room or lounge about where to go, maps, information on public transport etc.
Location: A quiet residential location (though it wasn't during our stay as they were digging up the road all day, drilling through solid rock)
We stayed in the old villa which is delightful, though we did not have a balcony or outside patio (Cinnamon Suite) that some may prefer. There is a lovely lounge and breakfast area and an honesty bar (you write down what you take and it is charged to your room). Breakfasts are substantial, but the same each day. The terraced gardens are truly a delight with pools and waterfalls throughout and the swimming pool looks great, though we didn't use it others did. You can easily walk into Cascais town through the old centre, or to the museums and park to the lighthouse and beach road, all in about 15 mins. A coffee machine is provided in the room, but only pods for your first day. We were puzzled by this as there was no information provided. Apparently you have to ask the staff for more pods which you have to buy. I think a couple of pods of coffee a day is not unreasonable to provide to your guests. A minor grumble.
