Romantic modern hotel right by the water!!!!

Posted Feb 25, 2014
First of all I would like to extent a warm thank you to the staff at the Farol Design Hotel who were so friendly and helpful. I went with my girlfriend as part of her birthday present for 3 nights in Febuary and I can honestly say it was one of the best holidays I've ever been on. The views of the sea we're great. The hotel decor was inviting, the staff were welcoming and so helpful and very knowledgable and full of recommendations, breakfast was lovely and fresh with fresh fruits, English breakfast, fresh portugease pastriese and cakes, cereal and a wonderful fruit n nut porridge with a Portuguese twist. You can sit in the restaurant with a fanatic view of the sea which then over looks the swimming Pool area. The sushi bar was amazing, never knew Portugal had such a thing for sushi and they really know there stuff. The sushi chef was very welcoming whilst he prepared your food in a open kitchen. The rooms were clean and modern and our room had a terrace which lead straight out onto the rocks over looking the sea. The hotel is situated 5 minutes away from tourist attraction 'Hell's mouth' and a 5-10 walk away from the centre with restaurants shops and bars and the bus and train station. The train will take you straight to Lisbon city in 30 minutes and the bus 403 will take you along the lovely coast with great views on a hour long journey to Sintra a very romantic and fascinating area of Portugal. All in all best hotel I stayed in and defiantly one of best holidays ever!

Nice hotel in a good location

Posted Nov 18, 2013
Pros: The location
Cons: Bar service
Location: Near the town of Cascais which is a short walk away by road or through the marina
We stayed for 2 nights in November for a friend's wedding. The hotel is in a great location with views out over the sea and a short walk down to the marina and the town of Cascais. The rooms were beautiful, very clean and beds were very comfortable. We did not eat in the hotel other than for breakfast - but the breakfast provided was brilliant with lots of choices, whether you like hot or cold food and the ocean-view from the breakfast room was simply stunning. The only thing which let the experience down slightly was the wait we had on arrival on the Friday night. We went to get drinks and bar snacks in the bar but had to wait 20 minutes to even be given a menu, by which point the kitchen was closed for our food order. Not ideal after a long trip! It's a shame because, other than this, I could not fault our experience.

Great Boutique Hotel

Posted Aug 8, 2013
Pros: Views and pool
Cons: No fitness centre
Location: Easy walk to town centre
Very nice small boutique hotel. I was upgraded to a suite which did not have a balcony but did have 2 walls of windows overlooking the ocean. The pool area is very nice and the location was an easy walk to the centre of town.

Great views, super chic

The (design) room we had was very nice with a balcony overlooking the sea - great views. The staff was very friendly and hotel was kept in very good condition. We spent most of our time at the pool, with very comfortable chairs. The views to the sea were incredible. At sundown on saturday, there was a happy hour and good music with a DJ. The only opportunity for improvement was likely the food (not very tasty, a bit over priced), we preferred our lunch at the nearby Mar do Inferno.

"You should look at other hotels"

Posted Jun 4, 2013
Pros: view
Cons: rooms
This hotel was a disappointment for me. First of all the rooms are very different and most rooms that don't have an ocean view are very small. The bed is pretty much the only thing that fits and the bathroom is made out of glass and is pretty much a part of the bedroom. The decor is ok and it is not close to the central area of Cascais. The view is great and the pool and area arond it beautiful. However the sandy beaches of Cascais are a far walk and not many close restaurants either. Not to mention that the place is pricey and by pricey I mean the prices are double of what you will find at most restaurants in Cascais.

Holiday trip with tree year old

Posted Jun 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
We found the hotel overall wonderful. However this hotel is really suited to people without children. Having gone with a three year old. The rooms unless you were staying in the suite rooms were not big enough.Plus the rooms with a terrace and sea view. Lead straight out onto a cliff edge! The staff were pleasant and helpful. However would not recommend if you have young children.

Excellent hotel, with an even better location. Just enough out of the town such that a short 3-4 min walk will get you there, equally far enough out to be quiet during the day and evening. If you are into running (like me) there is a smooth cycle and walking path directly outside the hotel, that runs for 5.5 miles out and back (11m total). The path runs along the quiet coast road, and excellent for long miles in the morning, or tempos in the evening ! Food again excellent in terms of both quality and freshness. The susi also very good. Rooms can be small, and we booked a sea view one (extra), however when we arrived we were shown to a small darkish sea view room on the 3rd floor, not happy with it we opted to pay more again for one of the newer rooms with a "full" sea view on 2nd floor. Do have to say it was worth the extra. If your not to cost concious pay the extra and go for the "full" sea view rooms. The outside area around the pool and rocks is again excellent. Service and staff excellent. Will be back for spring marathon training in 2014...

Great hotel! would love to go back.

great decor, SUPERB ocean view, good food, and the location was a nice bonus - thought we'd end up in the middle of nowhere...but it was only a 10 min walk to Cascais town centre with plenty of restaurant options, 40 minute bus ride to Sintra, and 30 minute train to Lisbon! by far one of my favourite weekend getaways.
